The Family Reunion and UBS

In August 2022, Sheila Johnson, Founder & CEO of Salamander Hotels & Resorts and Kwame Onwuachi joined forces with Food & Wine and other partners to celebrate diversity in the hospitality and culinary communities for the 2nd annual Family Reunion.

This immersive experience featured a stellar array of speakers, chefs and sommeliers for thought-provoking panel discussions, topical cooking demonstrations, inspiring recreational activities, and daily “family” meals.

Mel Hightower, Managing Director and Head of Multicultural Strategic Client Segments for UBS moderated the Don’t Label Me – Building a Brand panel discussion with Jonny Rhodes, Pierre Serrao and Tavel Bristol-Joseph.

The weekend was a celebration of Black cooking traditions that have shaped cuisine in America and focuses on building a better and more inclusive future in the restaurant and hospitality industries and beyond.
