The QR-bill Red and orange payment slips will soon be a thing of the past

Starting 30 June 2020, QR-bills will make it easier for you to issue and pay invoices. The new bills contain all the payment information in the QR-code and can be digitally imported.

How do I switch to QR-billing?

If you already have software for creating payment slips and would like to use it for QR-bills, please contact your software partner. As a UBS biller, you must use the BESR ID in the QR reference. This is something you must keep in mind when customizing the software. Please contact your client advisor.

Do you already digitally reconcile your BESR bills with the v11 report? Then you need to make the changeover to one of the two new camt account reportings. Before you send your first QR-bill, you should make the following adjustments:

  • camt.053: account statement with internal collective posting details or
  • camt.054: separate collective posting details

If you use payment software, you must be able to pay all three variants of QR-bills with your software from the launch date. The digital payment of QR-bills is possible in UBS Digital Banking (E-Banking and Mobile Banking), at a Multimat or using a paper order form.

The three versions of the QR-bill

The difference lies in the use of the IBAN and references.

QR-IBAN und QR-Referenz (ehem. ESR-Referenz)

QR IBAN and QR reference (formerly ESR reference)

  • Reference always reliably included in Reporting
  • Automated accounts receivable reconciliation
  • Efficient account reporting with collective postings
IBAN und Creditor Reference nach ISO 11649 Standard

IBAN and creditor reference according to ISO 11649 standard

  • Invoices that are mainly paid from abroad
  • Automated accounts receivable reconciliation
  • Efficient account reporting with collective postings
IBAN und keine Referenz

IBAN and no reference

  • Donations, promotions, events with unknown payers
  • No open accounts receivable
  • Account reporting only as individual postings

Benefits of QR-billing

For billers

  • Simplified billing, including across Europe and in euros, thanks to the IBAN format
  • Efficient management of open accounts receivable thanks to new electronic account reporting
  • Direct notification of incoming payments (individual or collective bookings)
  • Incoming payments (single or collective postings)

For bill payers

  • Fast, convenient payments, as the payment details in the QR-code can be scanned and confirmed
  • Error-free, as reference numbers and billers no longer have to be entered manually

If you already use software to generate payment slips and would like to continue to use it for QR-bills, please contact your software partner.

Are you digitally aligning your ESR bills with the v11 report? If so, you need to switch to one of the two new ISO 20022 reports. You should make the following adjustments before you send out your first QR-bill:

  • camt.053: account statement with internal collective booking details, or
  • camt.054: separate collective booking details

Your software must be able to process QR-bills from the introduction date. Digital payment of QR-bills will be possible in UBS e-banking, in the Mobile Banking app and at a Multimat from 30 June 2020.
