ISO 20022

A new format standard for cross-border payments ecosystem.

Migration to and adoption of ISO 20022 in correspondent banking (SWIFT) and the local market infrastructures is a major transformation of the payments industry. With the following information and documents, we are pleased to support you on this journey.

Introduction to ISO 20022

ISO 20022, also referred to as MX format, is a global messaging standard by SWIFT that enables more structured and rich data to be shared between financial institutions and beyond. It is based on a digitally native language – XML (Extensible Markup Language) – that improves readability by machines and ensures global interoperability across market infrastructures and systems.

Such a migration to a new standard, although coordinated, has significant implications for all Financial Institutions across the globe. Payments back-end systems and operations have to be adjusted and staff across all related functions has to be trained and become familiar with this extensive standard.

UBS PaymentsStandard test platform

With the UBS PaymentStandards test platform, you can test your XML messages for ISO 20022 compliance. The platform validates the format according to CBPR+ as well as UBS specific requirements.

Any errors are dynamically displayed and annotated on the test platform. This helps you to exactly identify and rectify them according to the generated comments.

We recommend you to validate your XML files on our platform before you submit them as payment messages to UBS.
