Access Keys

Most browsers support access to pages through so called access keys defined on the page.

To use access keys press alt + access key (Control + access key on Macintosh). If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, press the ENTER key.

All pages on this site define the following access keys:

1:Go to Navigation
2:To page content
9:Accessibility Statement (this page)

Every page is structured into a header area on top (including the Global Navigation), a left-hand area and a right-hand area. The left-hand area normally contains the local navigation and other supporting information. The right-hand area contains the actual page content. The content is organized in containers, so called portlets. At the beginning of every page, an alternative navigation allows users employing non-visual interfaces to jump directly to a specific portlet.

Links that are followed by an ellipsis (...) will open in a new window.

All content images used in this site include descriptive "alt" attributes. Purely decorative graphics and graphics used for layout include an empty "alt" text. Complex images and graphs have a description link associated with it whenever technologically feasible.

Visual Design

The site uses cascading style sheets for layout. However, users with technology that does not support style sheets are still able to use the site. Absolute positioning and sizes are avoided wherever possible.

Standards and Conformance

This site has been developed to ensure content is available to the widest possible audience, including readers using assistive technology or accessibility features. By following guidelines for accessible web design, UBS acknowledges different abilities of web-users and the diversity of communication methods and available technologies.

UBS strives to conform with W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V1.0 (WCAG) and HTML 4.01 transitional.
