Navigation
Navigation
Every page is structured into a header area on top (including the Global Navigation), a left-hand area and a right-hand area. The left-hand area normally contains the local navigation and other supporting information. The right-hand area contains the actual page content. The content is organized in containers, so called portlets. At the beginning of every page, an alternative navigation allows users employing non-visual interfaces to jump directly to a specific portlet.
Links that are followed by an ellipsis (...) will open in a new window.
Images
Images
All content images used in this site include descriptive "alt" attributes. Purely decorative graphics and graphics used for layout include an empty "alt" text. Complex images and graphs have a description link associated with it whenever technologically feasible.
Visual Design
Visual Design
The site uses cascading style sheets for layout. However, users with technology that does not support style sheets are still able to use the site. Absolute positioning and sizes are avoided wherever possible.
