Milestones timeline

1993 – Began competitive winning at 8

1995 – Won British Kart Championship (cadet class) at age 10, becoming youngest driver to do so

1996-1997 – Won Champions of the Future series, Sky TV Kart Masters Champion, Five Nations Champion, Super One series, and British Champion again

1998 - Officially signed to McLaren-Mercedes Young Driver Support Programme at age 13, youngest driver ever contracted by F1 team

2000 - Became youngest-ever World Karting number one at age 15 and won European Formula A series and World Cup Championship

2007 – Made his Formula One debut with McLaren at Australian Grand Prix

2008 – Won his first World Championship at age 23, youngest at the time, later signed five-year contract extension with McLaren

2013 – Joined Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team

2014 - 2020 – Won six more World Championships

2025 – Joined Scuderia Ferrari for 19th F1 season
