Fund account: build wealth strategically

A fund account is an account designed specifically for investing in funds. It allows you to invest in selected investment funds without having to buy and sell individual securities yourself.

Unlike a custody account, which lets you buy and sell shares, bonds or ETFs directly, a fund account focuses on investing in funds.

It is particularly suitable for clients who want to invest for the long term and prefer to leave investment decisions to professional fund managers.

The UBS Investment Fund Account is available to individuals aged 18 or over who are domiciled in Switzerland. It can also be opened as a gift fund account for a child, godchild or grandchild.

If you’re looking for guaranteed returns or want to avoid fluctuations in value, another product may be more suitable.

You can start investing from CHF 50. As soon as this minimum investment amount is reached, your money is automatically invested in the UBS investment funds you selected and in line with your investment instructions. Young clients benefit from preferential conditions on selected funds from just CHF 20 per month.

UBS offers funds with different risk profiles and investment focuses, ranging from more conservative solutions to growth-oriented strategies. During a personal consultation, we’ll work with you to determine which investment strategy and funds are the right fit for you.

For selected UBS Strategy Funds, an administration fee of 0.20% per year applies if you pay in at least CHF 50 per month. Yes, you can generally sell your fund units at any time. The proceeds are credited to a separate UBS account. It usually takes around four business days for the sale proceeds to be credited. The value of your fund units at the time of sale depends on the fund and market conditions.

Fund investments are subject to market fluctuations. The value of your fund units can rise or fall, and you may get back less than you originally invested. It is important to remember that funds are generally designed for a medium- to long-term investment horizon.

Fund units are held as segregated assets and are kept separate from the bank’s own assets. This provides additional protection, including in the event of bank insolvency.
