As the card issuer, UBS receives a so-called interchange fee for every UBS card-based transaction from the acquirer (the company that enters into contracts with merchants regarding the acceptance of cards as a means of payment).
Among other things, the interchange fee is used to cover the current costs, especially the costs for the transaction processing and the costs in connection with the risks of granting credit, provided these are not already covered by prices or fees according to the lists or product factsheets. The amount of the fee corresponds to a fixed amount and/or a percentage of the transaction amount, which depends on various factors: the country in which the card is used, card product, type of transaction settlement, etc.
The interchange fees of UBS Credit and Prepaid Cards currently range from 0.35% and 0.6% in Switzerland and between 0.% and 2.1% abroad.
The interchange fee is subject to change at any time.
