Macro Monthly: Investing in a mature cycle

Where are we in the business cycle? This is always one of the most important questions for asset allocation, but is becoming even more relevant as this historically long expansion trudges forward.

05 Jun 2018

In this month's Macro Monthly Erin Browne, Head of Asset Allocation, Investment Solutions, discusses why the US economy's transition into late cycle is important to global investors.

The expansion has been longer in the US, given mini-contractions in Europe and Japan earlier in the post-crisis period and the 2014 and 2015 dip in many emerging market economies. Financial linkages are important, and a sharp cutback in spending by US consumers and production by US businesses will impact other countries.
