UBS key4 is the new digital product line from UBS. The associated products are integrated into the existing UBS Mobile Banking App.

Our basic digital offering is called UBS key4 banking and includes a personal account, a sustainable savings account, a prepaid card or a UBS key4 credit card with attractive exchange rates, a debit card, mobile payment solutions (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and others), UBS TWINT and the UBS KeyClub bonus program. Sign the contracts in the app
Set up your login via the Access App

Here’s how we verify your identity

Depending on the kind of identification document you have, the identity verification will be carried out either during our opening hours by video call or at any time by providing a selfie.

With a biometric passport – by providing a selfie

Scan your passport.
Your personal details will be read automatically.
Take a selfie and we will compare this with your identification document.

With an ID or passport – by video call

Start the video call from within the app.
Make sure you have your passport or ID* to hand.
We will verify your identity during the call.

*In addition to a passport or ID, foreign nationals need a residence permit B, C, Ci or L

Can I also open the account via the app in the evenings or at the weekend?

Yes, with a biometric passport you can open the account at any time since you can have your identity verified independently by providing a selfie.
With a passport or ID, we will be happy to verify your identity at the following times by video call: Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Opening hours differ on public holidays.

What do I need to open an account?

Resident in Switzerland
Passport or ID card* from one of the following countries
For students: Valid student ID
For foreigners: residence permit B, C, Ci or L
Smartphone with camera and iOS version 13 or higher or Android version 10 or higher
Smartphone with the usage restrictions as provided by the manufacturer (no rooting or jailbreak, find out more here)
A stable internet connection

*All documents must be final. This means, for example, that we do not accept any outstanding applications for a foreigner's identity card.

Which exchange rate do we use?

We use the Mastercard® exchange rate plus 0.5% for payments with UBS key4 prepaid and credit cards. There is no additional processing surcharge when using the card to make payments in Swiss francs abroad or in foreign online shops.
You can easily calculate the precise exchange rate with the Mastercard currency converter.

If you want to continue to enjoy the benefits of the free banking package for young people and students, you have to submit a copy of your student ID card. You can do this conveniently online.

I’m a minor. What things do I or my parents need to bear in mind?

Once you’ve had your 12th birthday, you can open your account online yourself.
Your parents can help you complete the opening process, but this is not compulsory.
If you and your parents want to, you can apply for power of attorney so that they have access to your account. You can do this once you have opened your account by contacting a client advisor or writing to us via UBS Mailbox in your UBS Digital Banking.
