Covid-19 response series: Enrique Lomnitz

COVID-19 has seen an increased focus on handwashing and hygiene – but what if you can only rarely get tap water – and when you do it is not clean?

This is the problem addressed by Enrique Lomnitz, the latest subject of our video series looking at how the Global Visionaries are affected by and responding to the pandemic.

Enrique described the "great challenge" his Mexican social enterprise Isla Urbana faced, as they developed new ways of working so they could continue to install rainwater harvesting systems for those most in need.

He hoped the outbreak meant people would reflect on what was important, but opened up about the stress of running an organisation that many depended on: "It feels a little bit like sailing a boat through a serious storm, where you can't see what's ahead and where pretty much most of my energy is on making sure we don't sink."
