By 2030 our projects will help see at least 30% of our oceans protected and the other 70% sustainably managed – to secure everyone’s future.
  • The ocean is the world’s largest carbon sink, absorbing carbon from the atmosphere. And it provides us with half the oxygen we breathe. But it can only perform these vital functions if the life within it is thriving.
  • Blue Marine Foundation is a London-based charity dedicated to protecting the ocean, restoring marine life and habitats, and preventing overfishing. By protecting the ocean, Blue Marine Foundation tackles the combined threats of climate change and biodiversity loss.
  • From Patagonia to the Maldives, the organization runs projects worldwide. Its mission is to see at least 30% of the ocean meaningfully protected by 2030 and the other 70% sustainably managed. Blue Marine works in partnership with both local and international NGOs to achieve its goals and welcomes further partnerships.
  • Blue Marine Foundation is collaborating with UBS Optimus Foundation on a five-year project to protect seas and coastal communities in the Mediterranean.
  • The organization runs specialist units including Blue Education (engaging with local communities, fishers and young people), Blue Economics (bridging the gap between conservation and finance) and Blue Legal (helping shape and enforce law at sea).
  • Clare Brook was an ESG (environmental, social and governance) pioneer, managing sustainable investment funds at Jupiter and Henderson. She also established Aviva's sustainable investment division, and co-founded the positive impact investment company, WHEB Asset Management.
  • In 2014, Clare joined Blue Marine Foundation as Chief Financial Officer. She became Chief Executive Officer in 2015.
