Beijing (22 September 2016) - To mark 13 years of partnership with the Beijing Music Festival (BMF), UBS is sponsoring a special concert featuring a solo recital by the virtuoso organist, Cameron Carpenter.

In line with its commitment to support the cultural and financial development of the communities in which it operates, the firm is once again sponsoring the BMF's annual concert program at the historic Wangfujing Church.

At this year’s Wangfujing Church Concert, Cameron Carpenter will play the ‘International Touring Organ’ – a multifunctional digital organ made to his design by specialist organ-builders Marshall & Ogletree. Taking place on 25 October, the recital will include works by Bernstein and Hisaishi, Carpenter's arrangements of pieces by Wagner and Tchaikovsky, and an improvisation based on Chinese folk songs. US-born composer-performer, Carpenter is widely acknowledged as having revolutionized the performance of organ music.

"The Wangfujing Church concert program continues to go from strength to strength. I am confident that this year's performance by Cameron Carpenter will further enhance the festival's international standing," said Eugene Qian, UBS Group China Country Head & President.

Carpenter will also participate in a number of initiatives for UBS's employees and Community Affairs partners, including giving an open rehearsal for over 30 students from Shunyi District Thirteenth Middle School – a boarding school that supports disadvantaged children from rural and migrant backgrounds. The organist will host an interactive organ-playing workshop for the students, and also participate in a UBS Lunch & Learn speaker series for UBS employees.
