
Table tennis Olympian, Deng Yaping joined UBS Group CEO, Sergio P. Ermotti, and close to 2,000 delegates on the opening day of the 16th annual UBS Greater China Conference (GCC) in Shanghai.
“We are delighted to have a table tennis icon and Olympic gold medalist, Deng Yaping, with us today. Her discipline, professional accomplishment and willingness to take on new challenges are an inspiration to us all," said Ermotti.

Winner of four Olympic gold medals in table tennis and another fourteen world championships between 1989 and 1997, Deng Yaping led a generation of Chinese excellence in table tennis and was voted Chinese 'Athlete of the Century'. After retiring, she completed a PhD in Land Economy at Cambridge University and was named to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee. She is Deputy Secretary General of the People's Daily, a leading Chinese newspaper and media group.
The GCC is UBS's largest conference globally and one of the largest gatherings of corporate managers, policy makers, analysts and investors in China.
