With the latest listing on the SIX Swiss Exchange, UBS Asset Management has expanded its proprietary alternative beta product offering and now offers the broadest range of currency-hedged alternative beta ETFs. Investors on the Eurozone and US equities markets can now systematically tap volatility, value, yield and quality sources of yield, while profiting from the advantages of currency hedging in Swiss francs, euros, US dollars and British pounds.
The products, which were developed jointly with index provider MSCI, are based on the concept of factor premiums, which was developed by academic scholars and has proven itself in practice. The idea behind the concept is the realisation that certain factors on the stock market systematically contribute to excess returns compared to the market as a whole. "Our new ETFs are very clearly geared toward these return factors," explains Raimund Müller, Head of UBS ETF Switzerland & Liechtenstein. "And they've been designed so that the individual ETFs have as little overlap with one another as possible."
The new ETFs are available with hedging against Swiss francs, euros, US dollars and British pounds. "This is an important consideration, especially for risk-averse investors, because currency fluctuations can increase the volatility of a portfolio without boosting return expectations," explains Müller. "Currency-hedged UBS ETFs meet this challenge in an effective and transparent manner."
The new products augment the current range of alternative beta ETF products from UBS Asset Management.
