Tennis legend and grand slam winner, Li Na joined UBS Chairman, Axel Weber, and close to 1,700 delegates on the opening day of the 15th annual UBS Greater China Conference (GCC) in Shanghai.

“We are delighted to have a tennis icon and Grand Slam winner with us today. Li Na's competitive approach, tenacity and winning culture has much in common with that of the economists, analysts, policy-makers, industry experts, and clients with us today.  In light of this I am unsurprised that her story has resonated so well with the audience," said Mr. Weber.

"While I have been privileged to have played a small part in ushering China onto tennis's world stage, it is clear from the scale and scope of the UBS Greater China Conference that China is already an immensely popular investment destination. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to be part of this event and to gain a unique insight into the potential of China's financial sector," said Li Na.

Li Na is the most decorated Asian tennis player of all time, and the first Chinese player to win a Grand Slam, to win a WTA tournament and to break into the World top 10.  Li Na won two Grand Slam titles, the 2011 Roland Garros and the 2014 Australian Open. After her win in Paris in 2011, Li Na became the second highest paid female athlete in history, according to Forbes.

UBS's flagship global conference, the GCC is the leading China investment forum with an audience comprising leading international investors and institutional fund managers based in China. This year in excess of 170 companies will gain access to the crème de la crème of China-focused institutional investors. Delegates also have the opportunity to participate in company tours spanning internet & e-commerce, media & entertainment, renewable energy, technology and healthcare sectors.
