What about other questions?

Here are some answers to questions we're often asked. If they don't answer yours, contact your regional Junior Talent team below.

Application

In most cases, we accept online applications only. However, we comply with and support all national and local laws pertaining to non-discrimination and advancement opportunity, including those related to making reasonable accommodations to the recruitment process for applicants who require them.

Our application policies vary from region to region. Please refer to your local application policy in the "How to Apply" section for more details.

Online testing

Online assessment tests are used only in some regions. These tests help us to measure skills we’ve found to be important for success at UBS. We look at the results alongside the information in your application to get a balanced view of your skills and competencies.

We use two types of online assessment tests. The UBS Cultural Appraiser gives realistic, hypothetical work scenarios to assess how well you align to our culture and values. Our numerical reasoning test asks you to solve mathematical problems in business scenarios.

Shortly after your application, you will receive an email invitation with a hyperlink to complete the online assessment tests. Some things to keep in mind:

  • You can select your preferred language. 
  • You can choose to begin with practice questions to increase your familiarity with the test format.
  • Make sure that you answer all of the questions and reach the page confirming your test is complete. 
  • Your results will be evaluated by HR and you’ll be contacted soon after.
  • The website uses pop-up windows, so please be sure you have these enabled on your browser.

You will be able to select your website language of choice on the “Welcome to your Dashboard” page. Your test language can also be changed for each of the assessment tests listed under “Section 2: Your Assessments.”

  • The numerical reasoning test is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Spanish.
  • The situational judgment test is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Simplified Chinese.
  • You can change languages at any point during the practice questions, but you will not be able to switch once you have begun the test itself.

No, your test scores are for our internal evaluation purposes and will not be provided to you.

When you log in, the system checks your computer for the correct setup. The system will warn you of potential device incompatibility but will not prevent you from continuing to take the assessment tests. You’ll need to make sure you have the appropriate browser and have Java installed:

Click on the URL of the test again and proceed with the instructions shown on the screen.

Allow the test some more time to load fully. If the problem persists, please check your internet connection. Please also check that you have Java installed – refer to the browser check page.

If you are experiencing technical problems, please contact us (contact details below). Provide a detailed description of your technical problem, including information about your operating system, browser, error messages and what you were doing immediately before the error occurred.

We've a number of ways to help our candidates with special requirements. Please contact your regional Junior Talent team to discuss your specific needs, so that they can advise you on the best possible arrangement. This could include enlarged font sizes or additional test times, etc. Exceptional arrangements will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Internship programs

Our internship programs are the best ways to prepare for a graduate position with us (we tend to hire our best interns when they graduate wherever feasible). It’s an opportunity to work with and learn from some of the most successful people in finance, while acquiring the skills and contacts that will give you a head start when you graduate.

Graduate Talent Program

We accept both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree holders, accommodating our business areas’ preferences and the specific educational criteria for the positions.

Our Graduate Talent Program is an 18 to 24-month development program supplemented by further training specifically built around our different business groups. As such, it’s ideal for applicants with little work experience but great potential.
 
The direct hire option is appropriate for applicants who have substantial work experience and where the benefit of a traineeship is limited for both parties.

Career management

Our goal is to retain our Graduate Talent Program participants wherever feasible. In most cases and depending on applicable local labor law requirements, Graduate Talent Program participants are hired into a position that they stay in after the program ends. In rare cases, participants may be expected to conduct their own internal job search while enrolled in the program.
