Between 2019 and 2023, certain Credit Suisse clients were overcharged the “imposta di bollo sui documenti bancari” (stamp duty of the Canton of Ticino). Affected clients with an active banking relationship with Credit Suisse have already been reimbursed. Former clients who wish to claim a refund can apply for one in accordance with the instructions below.
The Canton of Ticino levies a local stamp duty known as the “imposta di bollo sui documenti bancari” on client relationships that are managed from the Canton of Ticino. The issuance of bank documents such as annual cash and custody account statements are subject to currently CHF 10 per document. Accounts with interest income of less than CHF 10 or with a balance that is always lower than CHF 1000 over the course of the year fall under a minimum limit and are therefore exempt from this tax.
Between 2019 and 2023, some Credit Suisse clients were overcharged the “imposta di bollo sui documenti bancari” as the minimum threshold was not implemented in the system. This system error has been corrected.
Affected clients with an active relationship with Credit Suisse received a refund in the second quarter of 2025. Former Credit Suisse clients who have since closed their banking relationship and are eligible for a refund are invited to apply for one. The following steps are necessary for this:
- Download and fill out the refund form
. Make sure that all fields are filled in, and the form is signed. Please note that the refund can only be transferred to an account in the same name as your former banking relationship with Credit Suisse.
- Make a copy of your identity document. Legal entities that have not indicated their Swiss UID (company identification number) on the form must also enclose a copy of their founding documents.
- Send all documents to:
UBS Switzerland AG

Your entitlement to a refund will be checked, and if it is confirmed you will be refunded the amount overcharged in accordance with the details on the refund form.
