UBS Junior Talent application process

With applications open all year for our internship and graduate programs, we thought we'd share some top tips to get you started.

Part 1: online application stage

1. Do your research and make your application specific to UBS.
2. What makes us different from our competitors? Really think about why you want to work for us and think about our core values and offerings as a company.
3. We want to know about all your work experience. Include any part-time/summer jobs. Have you done any fundraising before? Maybe you’ve organized an event? This says a lot about your personality. We hire beyond skills, and the qualities we’re looking for don’t have to be directly related to the role you are applying to.

Part 2: online assessment

1. The online assessments measure your reactions to certain scenarios. Following part one, it’s crucial for you to know about our seven core competencies and values to understand what we’re looking for.
2. Think about our company, the role you are applying for, and what sort of candidate you think we’re looking for. Are we looking for team players for this specific role? Or are we looking for independent workers?
3. The point of the cultural appraiser is to not only make sure that you fit with our culture, but also to see whether we fit you as well.
4. Numerical testing. It's always worth practicing the numerical test and making sure you're familiar with the content. Our numerical test wants to measure your understanding of tables and data.

Part 3: video interviewing

1. Just be you! We really want to get to know you, so it's best to be as natural as possible. You can practice in front of a mirror or film yourself on your phone to get more comfortable on camera.
2. Dress smartly and consider this as a formal face to face interview. Make sure you are somewhere quiet, so that you won't be disturbed.
3. Make sure you have checked your webcam and microphone so you know they work.
4. Try and speak to the camera and not to the screen. This makes the viewer feel like you are speaking directly to them.
5. Think about how you might come across through your gestures and remember to smile.

Part 4: Personal Interviewing

If you have succeeded in the previous stages, you will get to meet the team and get the chance to even get more specific answers on the role. My best advice here is to prepare a few questions and be your natural self. It's also a chance for you to see for yourself, how well the job suits you.
