1. Setting it up

A Donor-Advised Foundation can be established with a UBS account by any German resident or domiciled taxpayer, whether an individual or a company. You can also choose to open a UBS account solely for holding assets within the DAF, ensuring a focused and flexible philanthropic solution.

2. Making your donation

As a UBS client, you can contribute to your DAF account at any time, with no minimum or maximum limits on donations. New clients are required to meet a minimum deposit to establish a UBS account.

3. Reclaiming tax reliefs

If you choose to donate cash to the Donor-Advised Foundation, you may be eligible for tax relief. We can assist you in reclaiming any applicable income tax relief, helping to maximize the impact of your contribution.

4. Grant making

All grants must be directed to charities registered and tax-exempt in Germany and are subject to trustee approval in line with charity commission regulations. Eligible recipients may include universities and other qualifying organizations.

You have the flexibility to schedule grant distributions at your discretion and determine the amount you wish to donate. Options include making regular payments, allocating income generated from your portfolio, or contributing lump sums.
