Head Region East Germany: Michael Schmidt

Michael Schmidt has worked at UBS since 2001, and since 2013 he has held the position of head and responsibility for the Berlin office. He works closely with entrepreneurs in the region, in particular with entrepreneurs from the Berlin start-up scene.

Although he grew up in the analog age, he enjoys delving deeply into digital platforms, impact investing, and mentoring young entrepreneurs after cash events. In 2017 he ran his last Ironman in Hawaii, since then he prefers to spend his free time with his young family.

The Berlin branch was opened in 1997 and is still the only branch in the new federal states. Michael Schmidt and his team are the contact persons in Berlin - Germany's only metropolis - as well as Brandenburg for wealthy and demanding private clients/families as well as companies or foundations. The current team of eleven is characterized by excellent qualifications, consulting services, a high degree of discretion and its enormously broad network. In particular, the Berlin startup scene benefits from the skills of the UBS branch before, after and during individual placement phases in cooperation with the investment bank.
