Are you looking for a blog about money and finances especially for women? Then look no further. We launched the Women’s Wealth Academy around a year ago. Our aim was to encourage women to take control of their money and long-term financial planning.
We now take some time to reflect on the Academy’s purpose, what you’ll find on our platform, and how the journey will continue. Finally, we will explain why we are more than just a finance blog for women.
Women rarely think about long-term finances, although they have every reason to do so
As UBS Investor Watch discovered, 7 out of 10 women do not get involved in long-term financial decisions. Many of them feel that their husband or partner understands these matters better. The same number of women also believe that good investment decisions require a great deal of prior knowledge.
This belief can have serious consequences. Women are more likely to work part-time and therefore often earn less than men. They also tend to see money and wealth more as a safety net than an investment opportunity. They are therefore less willing to take risks on the stock exchange and to invest in securities and similar investments. In addition, in Switzerland women generally live four years longer than men. This presents financial challenges, especially when it comes to planning for their retirement. For example, 3 out of 4 women say retirement planning is their main long-term financial priority. Many do not have sufficient retirement savings.
Yet they only realize this when it’s already too late. Indeed, 7 out of 10 women wish they had gotten more involved in financial planning sooner – and most women advise other women to do exactly that.
Why you MUST talk about money
Some say money is a topic best avoided. We disagree. Money is something that affects us all, and financial knowledge is key to getting involved in financial topics. More than 80% of women are less worried about their own financial future and about joint finances if both partners are involved. That is why we launched the Women’s Wealth Academy.
The Women’s Wealth Academy is a knowledge platform about finance. It supports you at every stage of your life and encourages you to take a greater interest in financial topics. Available in four languages and addressing you on equal terms, it offers attractive formats for different needs.
With more than 150 years of experience in financial consulting, we have the knowledge and expertise to help you with your individual financial, inheritance and retirement planning. We clarify financial concepts such as securities, funds, dividends and returns and provide concrete guidance and resources regarding money, investments and your entire wealth planning.
What you’ll find on the Women’s Wealth Academy
Your roles and responsibilities are continually changing, depending on what stage in life you’re at:
- Perhaps you are in your first job and wondering when it makes sense to start paying into pillar 3? Or how to invest in stocks and other investments such as ETFs for the first time?
- Or are you thinking of starting a family and wondering when you should open a separate account for your child?
- If you have older children, you may be asking yourself questions like “How much money does my teenage son or daughter really need?” or “How can I make sure they can achieve their goals?”
- By contrast, others may want to know how much risk they would be taking if they started investing in stocks and shares.
- How can you use investments to get more out of your retirement savings and be financially ready for retirement?
