Discontinuation of Swiss direct debit procedures (LSV+ and BDD) by SIX

For the time being, nothing will change for you as an LSV+/BDD biller or invoice recipient. You can continue to use LSV+/BDD as usual until 30 September 2028. You don’t need to do anything right now.

UBS Direct Debit is the ideal follow-up solution for collecting payments from customers with a debit account at UBS. It enables you to continue using the direct debit procedure after 30 September 2028.

As an alternative, you can already send eBill invoices with UBS Digital Invoicing or use the QR-bill for invoicing. To make your invoicing process even more efficient in future, we are currently working on further LSV+/BDD alternatives and offers.

For direct debits from payers without a UBS debit account for which UBS Direct Debit cannot be used, we offer the following alternative solutions to payees:

We offer the SEPA direct debit system for direct debits in euros in Switzerland. For SEPA direct debits, the payer’s bank must also support the system.

UBS is not currently planning to implement eBill Direct Debit, as there are a number of direct debit use cases for which it does not offer a solution.

TWINT is planning a modern, digital direct debit solution, which will be available well before LSV+ and BDD are discontinued. This new generation of direct debit system aims to meet the needs of both traditional direct debit customers and TWINT users. UBS is doing everything necessary to offer billing clients the best possible and most cost-effective solutions that cover all their needs. Since the financial center’s decision to discontinue its LSV product represents a challenge for many of our clients, especially in the area of BDD (direct debit without objection; for companies) and for non-digital clients, we have decided to support clients by continuing direct debit processing within UBS. However, we will continue to adhere to the established ISO 20022 standards in the future so that no additional costs are incurred for billers or software manufacturers.
