Based on your purchases, the CO2 tracker provides insights on your carbon footprint. Knowing your carbon footprint enables you to make more mindful choices on what you buy. UBS uses the methodology developed by Doconomy. First, we assign each payment to a merchant category which indicates how much CO2 is generated per Swiss franc for a particular product or service. Then, we calculate that transaction’s carbon footprint by multiplying the emission factor by the amount you paid. Based on your transactions, UBS knows where you have shopped, but not exactly which products or services you purchased. For this reason, the carbon footprint is only an estimate. You can find more details about the carbon footprint in our FAQs.
