Portrait of Adrian, Client On boarding, Schaffhausen

Interview with Adrian

Can you tell us a little more about your career and your current role at UBS?

It all began with an apprenticeship when I was 15 years old. I learned the essentials of banking in various departments. After my apprenticeship, I was given the opportunity to expand my knowledge by joining a specialist finance education program at UBS. Once I completed this, I received a job offer as a client advisor, which I gladly accepted.

I was in the role for almost one year when I decided to go back to school. I studied international management in Zurich. After finishing two years at the university, I found the ideal chance to get back to business by joining the Client Onboarding team at UBS in the new UBS Business Solutions Center (BSC) in Schaffhausen. Here I can work flexibly alongside my studies but still get a foothold in the business environment.

How did your first day go and how did your new team welcome you?

My first day was fairly smooth. In the morning, we had an induction session to learn more about the Group Operations CH/EMEA structure. In the afternoon, we moved to our desks and we were introduced to the whole team. Overall, it was a very warm welcome.

What is your motivation for getting up in the morning and going to work?

I learn new things every day. I have new challenges not only within my daily university life, but also now at my new job at UBS. There are a range of new processes that I need to get familiar with.

What does teamwork mean to you?

Colleagues need to be able to rely on each other. If everybody collaborates, individual strengths can be used in a way that enable synergies to evolve. Another vital point is interdepartmental collaboration, where both parties are willing to step up to help each other.

How was your move to Schaffhausen?

The move was very efficient; within two days we were already settled. Schaffhausen itself offers, apart from a workplace in a brand new building, the possibility to discover the well-preserved old town with its nice spots only a few minutes away. It is easily accessible with the shuttle buses provided by UBS too.

How is the spirit in the new UBS-BSC Schaffhausen?

It seems that with the move to Schaffhausen a new chapter started. Everyone is refreshed and ready to give 100% to succeed in the new environment. Everything is very modern and we are provided with cutting-edge technology and devices. It is really exciting to get up knowing that you are going to work in one of the most modern UBS offices.

How do you feel about your opportunities for development?

UBS is a global company and offers big opportunities in a variety of different segments. I could see myself working in a different part of the business very easily.

How do you relax after work?

I play volleyball on a local team. This helps me to relax and keep myself fit. Additionally, I like to go out with friends at the weekend. I also enjoy reading books.
