There’s not much that falls beyond our scope and control
Running our business with confidence.
The Compliance, Regulatory and Governance team play an important role at UBS and have a broad mandate to carry out. We take an integrated approach to effectively manage the evolving regulatory and compliance environment and drive solutions in line with UBS's strategic objectives. We also develop clear and coherent standards and make sure they're applied across the firm and its subsidiaries.
Playing our part
What role does Compliance, Regulatory and Governance play within UBS?
We are a control function that manages all interactions with governments, regulators and international standard setters to efficiently manage compliance, operational risks and change. We cover operational risks, employee conduct, financial crime prevention, regulatory and governmental affairs, governance arrangements and many more. We closely work with UBS's business divisions and play a vital role in protecting one of our most valuable assets: our brand reputation. We’re present in 37 countries with more than 2,600 employees.

What are we looking out for?
We want students who have a keen interest in UBS and the financial industry. Like us, you have a curious mind that wants to better understand how risk and control frameworks keep organizations at the top of their game. Accountability is important to you and show that towards our clients, shareholders, communities and our very own people. You also think ahead, questioning what the regulatory environment will look like as we move forward, so we can be proactive in our approach. UBS is a great place to work and we want people who see challenges as opportunities and have a desire to grow and develop.
What can I do to stand out?
Being prepared for every step of the application process will create a great first impression. Think about the role you are applying for, what genuinely interests you, and what can you bring to the table. Be able to talk about where your current skills align, but also be open and honest about the gaps, where you can develop, and what you want to learn once you’re in the role. Do your homework - reach out to your network, speak to former grads on LinkedIn or attend industry events. Finally, be yourself. Diversity of mindsets is critical to UBS, and we are looking for people who'll share our common purpose but reach our goals in different ways.
What support will I receive?
Everyone who joins us at UBS will be given a combination of on-the-job training and formal training. When you join you will be assigned a mentor or buddy depending on the program. Your line manager will take an active role in your career progression and development.
A few extra things to remember
Preparation is key – candidates who stand out are always prepared. Ask questions. We love talking about our roles and why UBS is a great place to work. So, don’t be shy.
Hear from our people
I’m an apprentice in Compliance and Operational Risk Control. We are tasked to make sure that all compliance, conduct and operational risks are understood, owned and managed according to the firm's risk appetite. The prospect of being able to support UBS from behind the scenes fills me with pride. Managing risk is not something widely understood within the firm – at least not to a detailed degree. So, the more you learn the more you can explain and teach and help refine processes such as risk assessment to enable better quality information that support business divisions in making decisions going forward.
