Building a career that matters

I looked for additional ways to contribute when my initial workload allowed for it. Together with our Wroclaw head, I launched the Department Network Academy (DNA), an initiative that connected teams and supported development across the business.

Building something from the ground up gave me valuable experience and shaped how I approach projects today.

My day usually starts with aligning priorities and checking updates, followed by a daily morning meeting with the Swiss team. From there, it’s a mix of meetings, focused work, and content development.

Some days are more meeting-heavy. Other days give me space to prepare learning materials, update knowledge platforms, or work on new initiatives. While I do have the opportunity to work from home, office days bring many spontaneous conversations and idea-sharing, which is great for collaborating with my colleagues.

I’ve been working on educational initiatives, including managing an educational space on an internal learning platform. The goal is simple: give colleagues easy access to short, practical learning resources that support their daily work.

Another initiative was creating a community website for our P&C Poland organization, a central place for over 400 employees to access information, team updates, and shared initiatives. It was designed to strengthen connection and belonging across the organization.

I had a pleasure to attend a talent program for P&C Employees called Career booster. During this program, our team was assigned a project without a clearly defined structure. I supported the team in shaping the approach, structuring key topics, and coordinating discussions with the sponsor.

That support helped turn an open topic into a clear plan and final outcome. It was well received and met the sponsor’s expectations.

Many people think my role is mainly administrative and repetitive. In reality, it involves designing learning experiences, coordinating initiatives across teams, and creating solutions that improve how people access knowledge and collaborate.

It combines structure with creativity and requires close collaboration with many stakeholders.

One of my proudest moments was seeing the Department Network Academy expand beyond Wroclaw to Krakow. It showed the work had value beyond the local team.

I was also proud when I was promoted to associate director. I didn’t expect it, but it showed me that consistent effort and commitment are noticed and appreciated.

Mainly through event organization. I’ve led several employee events across Poland as project lead, which helped me develop leadership skills, collaborate with senior leaders, and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Be curious, get involved, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. There’s no single educational path into this field. What matters most are communication skills, openness to learning, and collaboration.

Focus on building relationships, seeking mentorship, and bringing your own ideas to the table. Mistakes will happen, but they are part of growth. By being proactive and engaged, you can build a fulfilling career in P&C Poland.
