Despite being concerned about financial security in old age, only a few women take an interest in their long-term finances.

As part of the UBS Women’s Wealth Study Switzerland 2021, we asked women of different ages and levels of wealth about which financial topics matter to them.

The study showed that many women are interested in the major challenges facing society. For example, they are especially concerned about the impact of climate change. However, they are less worried about the performance of their investments, with only 15 percent of women surveyed stating an interest in financial and stock market developments.

Follow the developments on the market

The study also shows that many women are worried about their financial future and having enough money in old age. One way of building wealth and ensuring financial security in old age is to invest money for the long term. This is why it also makes sense to follow developments on the financial markets.

Investing money presents new opportunities for building wealth, but there are many different ways of investing. Are you still unclear about how? Or perhaps you lack experience? Then it’s best to start gradually. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What do you want to achieve by investing?
  • How much risk are you willing and able to take on?
  • How long is your investment horizon and what kind of returns are you expecting?

The concern of many women about the impact of climate change is also visible from their investment portfolio. The ESG criteria (Environmental, Social, Governance) with which sustainable investments can be aligned, can help you to take these needs into account.
