The trade war with the US has become a topic of secondary importance for China, says Dr. Yu Jie, Associate Fellow at the London School of Economics. Instead, the primary concern for the Chinese leadership is technological innovation. Yu Jie is a scholar of Chinese political leadership and a sought after advisor to various public institutions including the UK government, as well as private corporates. She also frequently appears in media outlets such as the BBC, the Financial Times and the Washington Post. In the interview she talks about how US President Trump is seen in Beijing, the most likely outcome of the Hong Kong situation, and China's view on Europe and Brexit.

Yu Jie spoke to Beat Siegenthaler of the UBS Knowledge Network in London on Aug. 28.
