More about Janice

Portrait of Janice, Wealth Management, Hong Kong

Hey Janice, how’s everything been so far?

It’s been amazing! In a short span of four months, I've met so many people and learnt so much about banking. Right now, I'm currently in the Wealth Planning team.

Why did you choose to join UBS?

I chose to train here so I can get a strong head-start in my career. The training program is so comprehensive and it lets me rotate between multiple teams. In each rotation, I get to understand the firm from a fresh perspective.

Care to share any interesting insights from the Graduate Talent Program (GTP)?

I attended a Lunch & Learn session on sustainable investing. I could relate to the topic very well because I studied environmental policy in my university. During the session, I interacted with a fund manager who happened to be a graduate from my university! That's when it struck me that I don't only get to learn from an expert, but also make a unique connection in the company.

Have you got any personal highlights?

I attend a weekly investment meeting, where everyone gathers to share their insights. It's really great learning about markets from other teams and to hear their product ideas. Most importantly, I look forward to hearing the updates that the senior managers provide. They paint this big picture of our work and, as a result, we understand the bigger purpose of what we're doing and feel totally united as a team.

How do you find time to relax outside work?

A few colleagues and I will meet to have dinner or catch a movie after work. During weekends, you'll find me running or hiking. I used to play Ultimate Frisbee during my university days and I hope to join a league in Hong Kong soon.

Your advice for the new class of GTPs?

Seize every opportunity. The firm has so many resources and it's up to you to make the most of it. Don't be afraid to reach out to a colleague for help and guidance!
