Portrait of Anubhav, Group Tax, Mumbai

More about Anubhav

Background

A chartered accountant by qualification, I have spent half my work life in "Big Four" accounting firms and the other half here. When in accounting firms, I specialized in financial services regulatory and taxation. At UBS, I have worked on setting up entities, shutting down entities, selling entities and acquiring entities.

Tell us a bit about your role

I am the Operating Officer for the Investment Bank entity in India and manage the Finance function for India across entities, supported by the controlling team. I face off to the regulators and management for IB and finance-related matters. In my role as Tax Counsel for India, I manage the Corporate Income Tax line for UBS in India. I also advise internal stakeholders on tax matters.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

It has to be the interaction with so many different people around the world. They bring so many different perspectives to any discussion, which really broadens one's outlook.

What’s the best piece of career advice you have ever received?

"I think you should take up UBS's offer."

How do you view change, both within UBS and our industry?

The clichéd answer is that change is the only constant! Having said that, I have seen the financial services industry change many times during my career. Change is essential – but one can hope it is in the right direction.

What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?

Restaurateur and/or beer brewer!

Tell us one thing that no one would know about you

I am a master storyteller to the kids (and my plants), accompanied by sound effects and drama. I am used to making up stories with random characters provided by the kids. Also, I can run a half-marathon, but cannot walk as fast or as much as my wife.
