About the UBS Worry Barometer

For nearly 50 years, the UBS Worry Barometer has revealed the issues that matter most to the people of Switzerland. The annual study clearly shows how public sentiment has developed and how priorities have shifted over time, covering everything from financial security and the pension system to environmental issues and immigration.

The most important thing is listening because by taking people’s concerns seriously and understanding them, we can recognize what support is needed. This year, the UBS Worry Barometer will again provide a foundation for companies and institutions to develop concrete solutions based on the concerns of the Swiss people.

While recurring questions enable long-term comparisons, the Worry Barometer also sets down the priorities for each year. This year, for instance, the Swiss were asked how competent they feel regarding financial matters. As a bank for Switzerland, their responses provide valuable insights into where guidance and advice are needed.

Our publication, UBS Year Ahead, provides important insights into future developments.

2025 in focus: healthcare costs are the biggest concern

As in previous years, the UBS Worry Barometer is based on a study by the gfs.bern research institute. This year’s results clearly show that all age groups cite healthcare costs as their biggest concern.

Priorities vary by age group:
Young people (age 18 to 39) are particularly concerned about environmental and climate issues, retirement provision and housing costs. For the middle generation (age 40 to 64), migration policy is more important. Retirement provision also remains a central concern. The over-65s are particularly concerned about relations with Europe.
