Investing with UBS key4 smart investing

As soon as you have more than CHF 50 on your UBS key4 smart investing, we’ll invest the money in accordance with your instructions.

There are commission-free, actively and passively managed UBS investment funds and UBS ETFs to choose from, including funds on the latest themes like sustainability, digitalization and high-return funds.

All funds at a glance

Yes, a selection of ETFs is available. However, these can only be accessed via the theme-based fund selection.

You can access the list of available funds via www.ubs.com/ubskey4-funds-en.

You can select funds in two ways:

  1. As easy as possible
We suggest three UBS investment funds that match your investment time frame and risk tolerance, and you select one of them.
  2. Theme-based
Select up to five funds by theme (such as sustainability or digitalization) or with a focus on specific regions (e.g., Switzerland or Europe).

Important: ETFs are only available in the theme-based selection.

ETFs can only be traded in whole units. You need to ensure that you can purchase at least one unit since otherwise the investment instruction will not be carried out.

Example: If an allocation of 5% is defined for an ETF in the investment instruction and CHF 50 is paid in, ETF units would have to be purchased for CHF 2.50. If the current unit price is higher than CHF 2.50 (e.g. CHF 4), the CHF 50 would not be invested. At a market price of CHF 4 per unit, at least CHF 80 would have to be paid in to ensure that at least 1 unit can be purchased.

Trading (buying and selling) is covered by the all-in fee and does not result in any additional fees.

Important to note: Statutory stamp duties are incurred when buying and selling ETFs. ETFs with a CH ISIN are subject to 7.5 bps and foreign ETFs to 15 bps.

First, specify your investment time frame and the level of risk you are willing to take. We will then suggest suitable funds. If you like our recommendation, open UBS key4 smart investing with a single swipe and make your first investment.

We determine your risk profile based on your investment horizon and your risk tolerance.

You can invest in up to five funds simultaneously.

A fund is described as sustainable if significant Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects are included in investment decisions. The aim is to bring about a positive impact on the environment and society while achieving financial performance comparable to traditional investments.

  1. Choose up to five funds, we’ll help you.
  2. Transfer money regularly to your UBS key4 smart investing solution.
  3. As soon as you have CHF 50 on your investing account, it will be invested in accordance with your instructions.

Investment instructions determine how your account balance is invested. They specify the investment funds to be invested in and how much of your deposits or your account balance is invested.

Your investment instructions are similar to a standing order for the purchase of securities.

You can invest in various funds from the categories of investment strategy funds and theme-based equity funds in your UBS key4 smart investing solution. Investment strategy funds combine investments in more than one asset class, such as money market, bonds and stocks, and alternative investments (such as hedge funds or real estate) into a single fund.

You have a great deal of freedom to make your own decisions in the self-service area. We help you set up your investment instructions via the opening process and when selecting funds by determining your risk profile, comparing it with the risk class of the fund and making a recommendation. You can sell your securities in your portfolio at any time by trading them.

Yes, you can change your investment instructions at any time in the UBS Mobile Banking App or E-Banking. Your changes will only apply to future investments. Previously acquired investment fund shares in your UBS key4 smart investment custody account are not affected.

If your fund is one that pays dividends, the amount will be credited to your UBS key4 smart investing account.

If your fund is an accumulation fund, the amount will not be credited but instead be directly reinvested in the fund.

No, UBS key4 smart investing is a purely digital product that you can open quickly and easily via the UBS Mobile Banking App. However, we will be happy to provide advice on other investment products. Simply make an appointment at a branch or via video call.

The value of an investment fund unit is based on the market prices of the individual securities in the fund. In theory, the highest return is obtained by purchasing stocks at the lowest price. But, of course, what the lowest price is cannot be known until a later point in time.

Instead of trying to time the market, we suggest that you invest the same amount on a regular basis. When prices are low, you receive more fund units for this amount; when prices are high, you acquire fewer units. Thanks to this average cost effect, you increase your chances of a lower average cost price, which renders unnecessary the question of market timing.
