UBS APAC Sustainable Finance Conference 2023

Tuesday, 10 October 2023
9:00am – 2:00pm (SGT)

The wins of change

Asia is the second-fastest growing region in the world for Sustainable Investing (SI) in recent years, a trend we expect to persist in light of continued gains in both consumer awareness and regulatory developments. We believe that investing in sustainability is not only crucial to safeguarding our future, but also presents a compelling financial opportunity.

With the UN warning of ‘an era of global boiling’, the scale of investment required to decarbonize the economy is significant. According to McKinsey, we are more than 35% short of the annual investment required to achieving net zero by 2050 globally, with a third of this investment in Asia.

Leaders driving the transition have much to gain, either from improved cost and risk management, or creating new business lines. In this conference, we gather some of the brightest minds in the industry to focus on ‘Wins’.

Welcome address by Young Jin Yee

Keynote address: From COP26 to COP28 - will it deliver climate action?

Has sustainable investing created sufficient impact?

Over the past five years, three letters - ESG, or environmental, social and governance - have taken the markets by storm. The number of sustainable investment products have more than doubled in the period, and according to the Global Sustainable Investment Alliance, sustainable investing assets now make up one in three invested dollars globally. But has this been contributive to the real world? In this session, we invite investment experts across asset allocation, public and private markets to discuss how they implement sustainable investing concepts and what this means for our drive towards a more sustainable world.

Emerging Technologies for Sustainability

Have current technological developments enabled companies in Asia to decarbonize and grow at the same time? What are the success stories and where will we face new challenges? What separates the leaders from the rest in an industry transforming towards sustainability? Industry experts in this session will share their insights and thoughts through actual case studies and live experiences.

Sustainable finance to power transition to a low-carbon economy

The world needs breakthroughs

According to the UBS Sustainability Report 2022, the shift towards a lower-carbon future is a priority for UBS and it is a key focus of our sustainability strategy. Every year, the world emits 51 billion tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. To prevent a climate disaster, we need to lower that number to zero by 2050. That means we need unprecedented technological transformations in almost every sector of modern life. Find out how Breakthrough Energy Ventures are accelerating this transformation.

Gamechangers showcase

An interactive session with engaging audience participation. A panel of companies with potential game changing sustainability-related technologies and business solutions will present to the audience on how their solutions and products can catalyze change in today's industries to create sustainable trends in business transformation.
