Dr. Atti is an experienced technology investor, entrepreneur, and executive who has demonstrated expertise and leadership in venture financing, business development, start-up growth and operations, and international business development. As founder and CEO at Phononic, he’s led the development and growth of the company as the leading innovator of solid state cooling and heating management solutions through accretive venture capital and institutional investor support. As a former Director at MHI Energy Partners, a seed- and early-stage energy private equity fund, Dr. Atti managed deal flow networks, conducted due diligence, structured venture financing transactions and provided direct portfolio company leadership. Dr. Atti earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Loker Hydrocarbon Research Institute at the University of Southern California. Dr. Atti also holds an MBA from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Ithaca College.

Phillip has 25 years of experience building and growing companies in Taiwan, China and the United States. Prior to founding Ayla, Phillip was at ZeroG Wireless, where he was responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with Asian manufacturers, suppliers, and customers, working with some of Asia’s largest contract manufacturers and technology providers. Phillip has also served as an executive vice president at Broadweb, a networking security vendor, CEO of Linkpeople, an early social network application developer, and founder of Macsense, a third party developer of Mac peripherals.

A recognized business leader in Asia, Phillip has been called upon to instruct local corporate groups and support start-up fund raising activities in Taiwan and Shanghai. In 2004, he was honored to be a representative of Taiwan’s Information Telecommunication and Communication delegation to APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Conference) in Seoul, Korea. Phillip has a BA from UC Berkeley, an MS from Stanford University and completed a doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in his spare time. He is named as “Yicai Brilliant 20” as the Top 20 international Entrepreneur who is running startup company in China. Before beginning his career in business, he was a world-class athlete, participating as a member of Taiwan’s Olympic swimming team.

Mr Sunny Cheung re-joined as Chief Executive Officer of the Octopus group of companies effective 2 January 2015. He had been the Chief Executive Officer of the Company since January 2011 until his retirement in March 2014.

Mr Cheung has over 40 years’ experience in retail banking and payments. Prior to joining Octopus Group in 2011, he was the Country Manager of Visa International for Hong Kong and Macau.

He also held senior management positions with several financial institutions, including Managing Director and Head of Greater China Consumer Banking at DBS, General Manager of Consumer Banking at Dao Heng Bank and General Manager of Citibank card business in Hong Kong.

Victor has considerable experience on both sides of the investment table. In recent years he has focused his attention on technology investing. Immediately prior to CIC, Victor was at pan-European venture capital investors Wellington Partners, where he was a Venture Partner in the Tech Team. Before that Victor founded Opsys, an organic electronics business focusing on OLEDs and was a member of the team that sold Opsys to Cambridge Display Technology (now owned by Sumitomo Chemicals). Victor has a BSc and PhD in Chemistry from Imperial College, London and was a Sloan Fellow in the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. In the early stages of his career, Victor was an academic at the University of California at Berkeley and then at the University of Oxford, where he was a Royal Society University Research Fellow and Junior Research Fellow at Balliol College. Victor was the Royal Society of Chemistry Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002.

Sundeep Gantori is the equity analyst responsible for the global technology sector, Asia ex Japan Focus 20 list and Taiwan equity market.

Sundeep joined UBS Wealth Management as an equity analyst in February 2007 and his coverage mainly focuses on both global and Asian technology sectors including semiconductors, hardware, internet and software & services. Additionally, Sundeep is also responsible for Asia ex Japan Focus 20, CIO's highest convictions stock ideas in the region and Taiwan equities. Before joining UBS, Sundeep worked as an equity analyst in PCS Securities, an Indian brokerage firm where he was covering the Indian IT & Telecom sectors

Sundeep graduated in commerce from Osmania University, India with a gold medal and is also a CFA and CAIA charter holder.

Xeltis CEO, Laurent Grandidier, has transformed Xeltis from a small research entity into one of the most promising medical device companies globally. Today, Xeltis is a clinical-stage company pioneering a revolutionary, restorative heart valve therapy. Xeltis’ devices enable the natural restoration of heart valves through a new therapeutic approach called Endogenous Tissue Restoration (ETR).

With ETR, the patient’s natural healing system develops tissue that pervades Xeltis’ heart valve, forming a new, natural and fully functional valve within it. As ETR occurs, Xeltis’ implants are gradually absorbed by the body.

RestoreX, Xeltis’ technology platform, is the world’s first polymer-based technology for natural heart valve restoration. The technology, based on Nobel prize awarded science, has the potential to improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients and to reduce overall healthcare costs.

Grandidier joined Xeltis in 2011, when it was a small university spinoff. Today, the company has its first anticipated commercial product, a pulmonary valve, in clinical trials; a second product, an aortic valve, in preclinical trials; and a number of additional cardiovascular applications in its pipeline.

Grandidier successfully led Xeltis’ oversubscribed series B financing round of $30 million in 2014, extended to $33 million in 2015.

His expertise in medical devices is a result of working in leadership positions for companies such as Endosense, Guidant/Boston Scientific and Teleflex Medical.

Grandidier is co-founder of one of France’s first social venture funds, Investir&+, where he currently sits on the supervisory board. He is a board member of the Frédérique Constant Foundation, supporting pediatric clinical and research centers for treatment of children and young people with heart diseases in countries where such facilities are unavailable.

Robert M. Graham received his medical training at the University of New South Wales where he is now the Des Renford Professor of Medicine, (UNSW). He has been the inaugural Executive Director, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (VCCRI), Sydney, Australia, since returning to Australia in 1994 after 17 years in the US. In the US he worked at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas; the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School; the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He maintains an active clinical practice as a consultant physician in cardio-renal diseases.

A Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, Foreign Member, Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, and Officer of the Order of Australia, his research published in over 260 papers focuses on molecular cardiology, with emphasis on circulatory control mechanisms, hypertension, receptor signaling and cardiac hypertrophy, as well as cardiac regeneration and the application of stem cells for the treatment of heart diseases. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association; Life Member, Heart Foundation of Australia (NSW Division), and Member, American Society for Clinical Investigation; the Appointments and Promotions Committees of the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research; Members Scientific Advisory Boards, the Centre for Vascular Research, University of NSW and Heart Research Institute, Sydney, and Founding Board Member, Australian Cardiovascular Alliance.

Current and previous commercial/biotech experience includes positions as founding board member and contributing scientist, EngeneIC Ltd and MirAcl Therapeutics, Ltd., Sydney; Chairman, ImmunoCare Therapies, Inc., Nevada, USA; Chairman, VCCRI IP&C Committee; Member, Scientific Advisory Boards of Mesoblast Ltd., Melbourne, and Zensun Ltd., Shanghai; and Chairman, Scientific Advisory Board of The Bosch Institute, University of Sydney, and Board Member, VCCRI; Member, Board of Directors, Lowy Medical Research Institute (LMRI), and Board of Scientific Governors, LMRI MacTel Project.

Mr. David Ku is the Chairman and CEO of WeBank.

Prior to WeBank, Mr Ku served as a Board Member and Executive Vice-President of Ping An Group. He was formerly a consultant of McKinsey & Company.

David is the COO of Impossible Foods, which is developing a new generation of delicious and sustainable meats and cheeses made entirely from plants. Its mission is to give people craveable food without the health and environmental drawbacks. The Impossible Burger launched at Momofuku Nishi with David Chang, Jardiniere with Traci des Jardins, Cockscomb with Chris Cosentino, and Crossroads with Tal Ronnen. It is now being served at 35 restaurants in the US with plan to have hundreds more in the next year.

Previously as CFO of Zynga ($2.3 billion public company, Ticker ZNGA), David helped lead ZNGA from being majority web-based to mobile, driving mobile topline growth over 80% in one year.

Prior to Zynga, David led corporate finance for Best Buy during its turnaround in 2013, and previously led the Del Monte brand, which eventually sold to KKR for $5.5 billion, resulting in over 40% return to shareholders. 

During his eight years at Del Monte, David led marketing, brand management, finance, strategy, and corporate affairs for the $2 billion consumer products business.

Mr. William Li is the Founder and Chairman of NIO. He is concurrently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bitauto.

In November 2014, Mr. William Li founded NIO. Mr. Li is dedicated to making NIO the first user enterprise in the world that will redefine the whole car ownership experience.

The NextEV NIO Formula E team secured the inaugural drivers’ championship title in 2015. In 2016, NIO unveiled the fastest electric car in the world, the EP9. The EP9 set the lap record for an electric vehicle at Nürburgring’s Nordschleife and three other world renowned tracks. In 2017, NIO unveiled the ES8 at 2017 Auto Shanghai. Mr. Li is taking action to fulfill his vision of creating a joyful lifestyle for users.

Mr. William Li is a serial entrepreneur. In 2000, he founded China's largest online automotive enterprises Bitauto (NYSE: BITA). Bitauto was listed on the NYSE on November 27, 2010.

While Mr. William Li was still studying at Peking University, he founded Beijing Antarctic Technology Development Co., Ltd, one of the earliest internet companies in China. Mr. William Li has co-founded and invested in over 40 companies in the internet and automotive industries.

Mr. William Li was recognized by the China Automobile Dealers Association in 2008 as one of the top 10 most influential people and distinguished people in China’s automobile deal industry in the past thirty years.

On July 15, 2017, Mr. William Li received the Internet and Smart Technology Innovation Leadership Award at the NetE.

Bill is Head of Asia Semiconductors Research. He joined UBS in April 2016. Previously, Bill was Head of Asia Semis at Morgan Stanley and Asia Tech Strategist. He received the highest number of votes for a Semiconductor Analyst in the annual Institutional Investor polls from 2012 to 2014 (he was not working in the industry during the 2015 poll). Bill holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from U.C. Berkeley.

Tan Hooi Ling is the Co-Founder of Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand transport mobile platform. She oversees critical pillars of Grab’s operations, focused on the development of new products and technology, people operations, customer experience and business operations.

Prior to returning to Grab in 2015, Hooi Ling led high priority strategic and operational projects for Salesforce.com in San Francisco. There, she specialised in Corporate Strategy, Corporate Operations, Pricing Intelligence & Monetisation. She was also previously a consultant at McKinsey & Company, advising global corporations in South East Asia, North America, Latin America and Australia.

Hooi Ling has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the University of Bath, and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

She finds joy in picking up new skills and experiences. Some of her favourite activities include swing dancing, snowboarding, and playing the ukulele.

Dr. Neil Renninger is co-founder and co-CEO of Ripple Foods, a company focused on changing the way the planet gets its food, starting with the dairy industry. Previous to Ripple, he co-founded the synthetic biology pioneer Amyris, Inc. in 2003 and served as its Chief Technical Officer from 2008 to 2012, serving on its Board of Directors. Amyris, funded by the likes of the BIlla and Melinda Gates Foundation, Khosla Ventures, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Beyers, was recognized as a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, and Dr. Renninger was recognized as one of the world’s top innovators under the age of 35 by MIT Technology Review Magazine.

Neil is driven by projects that have the potential for massive societal impact. At Amyris, he led efforts to develop a production process for an anti-malarial compound that is now used to make 100 million treatments annually. He then focused on climate change, developing processes for converting plant sugars into fuels and chemicals.

Ripple Foods is an extension of that desire for impact, disrupting an industry that is one of the most significant emitters of greenhouse gases and utilizers of water in the world. Through an through understanding of the biochemistry of foods and of plants, Ripple is bringing innovative and proprietary products to market in an industry where true innovation is severely lacking.

Neil holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Stefan Holzer is the CTO and Co-Founder at Fyusion, and a worldwide renowned scientist in the field of Computer Vision. Before Fyusion, Stefan was affiliated with the Computer Vision group at the Institute for Computer Aided Medical Procedures (CAMP), a PhD student at Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM), and a maintainer with the Point Cloud Library (PCL) project. His PhD work at TUM has been published in all major conferences of his field and at the forefront in the field of computer vision.

He was also affiliated with the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the Airbus group, the group of Dr. Andrew Davison at the Department of Computing at Imperial College London (ICL), and Microsoft Research Cambridge. Stefan was able to gain experience in the industry while working with several companies, including Willow Garage (a pioneer in the field of personal robotics), Metaio (the leading company in Augmented Reality), and the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS).

Stefan collaborated and co-authored papers with many world-renowned experts in the field of computer vision, including Jamie Shotton, Andrew Davison, Marc Pollefeys, Vincent Lepetit and more. As part of his work with Willow Garage, he also received the Willow Garage Outstanding Researcher Fellowship for three years in a row. Stefan’s research work has been published in all major Computer Vision journals (IJCV, TPAMI) and conferences (ICCV, CVPR, ECCV, BMVC, ACCV, IROS, ICRA), and received worldwide acclaim. He is the recipient of a prestigious O-1 US visa.

Mr. Simonds is Founder, Chairman and CEO of STX Entertainment, a global next-generation media company that specializes in the development, financing, production, marketing and distribution of film, television, VR, digital video, music and live entertainment content.  It is the industry leader in transforming beyond traditional platform-driven content to creating talent-driven enterprises.  One of Hollywood’s most prolific and profitable entrepreneurs, he is responsible for 30 major studio films that have generated more than $6 billion in worldwide revenue.  For more than two decades, Mr. Simonds has honed an approach to entertainment that is talent centric, financially rigorous, and global in its commercial appeal.  He founded STX to unlock the value of the direct connection talent have with their fans, connect Hollywood to China and beyond, and enable the seamless movement of premium content across all platforms.

Mr. Simonds graduated summa cum laude from Yale University.

Min-Liang Tan is the co-founder, CEO and creative director of Razer.

His leadership has resulted in the growth of Razer from a startup to a multinational market leader that was honored on Fortune Magazine’s “Unicorn List” in 2015 (private companies valued at US$1 billion or more).

Tan was named one of "The 25 Most Creative People in Tech" by Business Insider in 2015. Juniper Research distinguished him as a “Top 10 Most Influential Leaders in Tech” while Tech in Asia ranked him No. 1 of the 30 top Southeast Asia tech founders. In 2016, he was named one of the “Straits Times Asian of the Year”.

Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore Law School and was a lawyer before he founded Razer with Robert Krakoff in 2005.

Brendan Tu first joined UBS in 2003 and is currently Head of Asia Financial Technology and Business Services as well as Greater China Head of Financial Institutions Group. His prior roles include Deputy Head of Investment Banking Department at UBS Securities (China domestic) and a member of Corporate Client Solutions China Management and Risk Committee. Brendan covers multiple sub-sectors ranging from banks, securities, insurance, asset management, leasing, and financial technology (including marketplace lending, payment, internet insurance etc.). In addition, Brendan was with MBK Partners, a regional buyout fund, between 2008 and early 2010, covering a wide range of industries in Greater China.

Dan Vahdat is co-founder of Medopad, a British healthcare technology company enabling connected care. KPMG recently named Medopad a $1B company in the making. Dan is an award winning innovator in the fields of science and technology. His professional career spans from IT to medical technology including several years at Johns Hopkins in the US. Dan studied Engineering and Mathematics, after which he pursued his PhD in Bio-Engineering at Johns Hopkins and Oxford University.

Dr. Kai YU is the founder & CEO of Horizon Robotics Inc. He is a recognized pioneer and leader in deep learning and artificial intelligence. He was the founder and Head of Baidu Institute of Deep Learning (IDL), the first and most established artificial intelligence R&D center in China industry. During his career at Baidu, his role also included Deputy Managing Director of Baidu Research, Director of Multimedia Department, and Senior Director of Image Search Department. The teams led by Dr. Yu have won three Baidu Highest Achievement Awards for significant contributions to voice search, computer vision, online advertising, and web search. He has launched a number of innovation projects, including the Baidu autonomous driving project.

Dr. Yu is elected to China “Top 1000 Talents”, a prestigious group of technology leaders of the country. Dr. Yu has published around 60 papers with more than 12000 citations. He has received many awards, including the Best Paper Runner-‐up Award of ICML-‐2013, the First Place of PASCAL VOC 2009，and the First Place of ImageNet Challenge 2010. He is an Adjunct Professor of Nanjing University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Before joining Baidu, he worked at Microsoft, Siemens, NEC, and was an Adjunct Faculty at Department of Computer Sciences at Stanford University. He received his B.Sc and M.Sc degree from Nanjing University and his Ph.D. degree from University of Munich.

Cat has extensive leadership experience driving mobile, internet and software related transformation with large enterprises and start-ups.
Her current role is Head of Innovation Technologies, UBS Wealth Management Greater China where she is responsible for driving client engagement around technology. Previously, she spent over 15 years building 8 technology companies in software, cloud and mobile around the world.
Cat holds senior roles with the Women’s Foundation and InvestHK; she also leads a Facebook start up community with over 12k members. She was named a top 20 female entrepreneur to watch by ANZ Bank.
Prior to her days in technology, Cat spent 5 years in China building companies, factories and amusement parks.
She studied Management and Statistics at St Andrews University and received Diplomas in Marketing and Process-reengineering.
She also speaks Mandarin, French, German and some Spanish; and was born and raised in Asia.

David Chin is Head of Corporate Client Solutions, Asia Pacific, for UBS based in Hong Kong. Between 2009 and 2015, he was Head of Investment Banking Division, Asia for UBS. Under his leadership, UBS was consistently ranked top in Asian investment banking league tables. In 2013, IFR Asia, FinanceAsia and The Asset all named UBS as Best Investment Bank in Asia.
 
Prior to 2009, David had held various senior positions including Head of Financial Institutions Group and Head of Mergers & Acquisitions in UBS Asia. In 2008, UBS was awarded Best FIG House in Asia by both FinanceAsia and The Asset.
 
He played an active role in business development for UBS, particularly in Hong Kong and China, including the development of offshore Renminbi equities and bond products since 2011; the formation of UBS Securities in China in 2007; and UBS's US$500m investment in Bank of China in 2005.
 
David led a wide range of capital market and M&A transactions for major clients in Asia, such as Bank of China, China Merchants Bank, China Pacific Insurance, Haitong Securities, Cinda Asset Management, and HKEx.
 
He is currently a Non-executive director of Postal Savings of China. During the academic year 2015-16, he was a Visiting Bye Fellow at Selwyn College, Cambridge University, England.
 
David joined SG Warburg, a predecessor firm of UBS, in London in 1994, and moved to Hong Kong in 1996. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in London in 1993. He has a MA degree in Economics from Selwyn College, Cambridge University, England.

Ling Zhang is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of BGI Genomics Co., Ltd. He was Managing Director, Head of China Healthcare Investment Banking at JP Morgan Securities; Managing Director, Investment Banking Division of Citigroup Asia Markets and Vice President, Investment Banking Division at China International Capital Corp. (CICC). He obtained MBA with Distinction from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

Neil is responsible for the distribution of Direct Investments to UBS Wealth Management clients in Greater China. Neil began his career in investment banking in 2002 gaining experience in equity, debt, and M&A, and moved to the wealth management industry in 2015. Prior to joining UBS, Neil worked in Daiwa Securities with a focus on covering corporate clients in Southern China and Hong Kong. As a regional coverage banker, Neil worked with corporate clients in various industries, notably in consumer goods, industrial and renewable energy. Before Daiwa, he was part of the China Investment Banking coverage team at RBS and analyst for the TMT sector at ABN Amro. Neil graduated from Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Economics and Marketing.

He is responsible for managing a diverse team of subject matter experts whose goal is to create a platform for incubating transformative wealth management solutions using disruptive technologies. Within this role, he looks to drive innovation through collaborative partnerships with VCs, start-up communities, Academia and enterprise-level technology firms. James has worked in various roles across 3 major continents and for numerous different Financial Services Firms.

Amy Lo is Chairman and Head of Greater China of UBS Wealth Management, Chief Executive of UBS Hong Kong Branch, and a Group Managing Director at UBS. Based in Hong Kong, she leads UBS's wealth management business in the Greater China region. As the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Branch, she is responsible for the firm's strategic development and oversees business activities in Hong Kong.

Since joining the firm in 1995, she has held a number of senior management positions including Regional Head of Ultra-High Net Worth (UHNW) in Asia Pacific where she built up the practice and offering into today's position as the leading regional wealth manager for UHNW individuals.

Amy chairs the Hong Kong Private Wealth Management Association (PWMA); is a member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee (EFAC) Financial Infrastructure Sub-Committee of Hong Kong Monetary Authority; a member of the Banking Industry Training Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Education Bureau; and a member of the MBA Advisory Board at the University of Hong Kong. She is also an Advisor of the Industrial Consulting Committee at the HongKong X-Tech. Amy was recently named by a top-tier media in China, China Business News, as one of the "Hong Kong Top 20 in the next 20 years" for her contribution to innovation developments in Hong Kong.

Amy is a Board Member of the UBS Optimus Foundation, the independent global grant-making foundation aimed at improving the education and welfare of children globally.
