China has recently announced the removal of the zero Covid policy, signalling the re-opening of the country. What’s next? Will there be a strong rebound in consumption and services activities? Will there be opportunities in the deep and diverse pool of equities and bonds? How will China-US relations develop? Over 2,000 investors will gather at the 23rd GCC to discuss China’s way ahead.

“The Greater China Conference is our flagship event bringing together investors, corporates and the best of UBS's thought leadership,” said Ralph HAMERS, Group Chief Executive Officer, UBS. "We expect to see a gradual recovery in China's economy in 2023 and the way ahead will present a range of opportunities."

This year’s conference has seen over 3,000 professionals register to attend, including 2,000 institutional investors and executives from more than 320 Chinese listed and private companies. The event’s keynote speeches and panel discussions in the first week will be broadcast virtually, with some physical sessions taking place in Hong Kong. This will be followed by investor meetings over the following week.

“A broad spectrum of leaders from across business, finance, politics and academia participating in this year’s conference will provide their insight on China’s reopening and key growth drivers, and the opportunities emerged from a renewed sense of economic vigor in the country’s economy and its admirable commitment to carbon neutrality and sustainability," noted Edmund KOH, President of Asia Pacific, UBS.

Other key areas of focus include climate transition and decarbonization goals, policy support for innovation. China-US relations, China-Asean links, the impact of shifts in global supply chain and inflation. In terms of sectors, the Conference will discuss consumption, new technology and sustainability, including autonomous driving and EV batteries, restructuring of the property sector, healthcare, leisure and more.
