Sports – insights from our CIO

The sports industry has been growing at a remarkable pace, and revenues are likely to rise further in the coming years. This growth is being fueled by a structural shift to sport streaming consumption, enhanced advertising experiences, increased sponsorship value through data analytics, expanding viewership across diverse regions, and a new generation of engaged fans.

Further enhancing the sector’s growth potential, the rapid evolution of women’s sports has been accompanied by significant increases in spectatorship and revenue. Broader health and fitness trends continue to drive demand for sports-related industries like sporting goods and nutrition. Sport betting and e-sports are gaining in popularity, and sports as a sector is now attracting billions of dollars of private equity capital, changing the landscape of team ownership and broadening investor access.

Despite prevailing perceptions, investing in sports has not been widely regarded as a serious asset class. In our view, this USD 3 trillion market is significantly underestimated and offers compelling potential for growth, enhanced returns, and differentiation across public and private markets alike. In this report, we highlight key trends currently shaping the sport market and opportunities for investors.
