What are the payment limits of UBS TWINT? How do I increase them?
UBS TWINT has various limits in place for security reasons. These vary depending on what you have stored and selected as a payment method in TWINT.
The spending limit is determined by the payment method selected. You can also add multiple payment methods in UBS TWINT by selecting “With “UBS Digital Banking” contract” as you add them. This lets you benefit from multiple limits. Learn more
- UBS account: CHF 5,000 per calendar month
- UBS Credit or Prepaid Card: Limit of the relevant card. You can check this directly in E-Banking or Mobile Banking under “Accounts & Cards.” Every month, you can spend up to a maximum of CHF 20,000 cumulatively for all UBS cards in the TWINT App.
Note: Do you have a limit of CHF 500 with an UBS card? To increase your limit, add your card again using your UBS Digital Banking contract number (Settings > Manage payment methods > Add/update > With UBS Digital Banking contract) - Credit or prepaid cards from third-party providers: CHF 500 per calendar month and CHF 5,000 per year following successful identification and 3-D Secure confirmation
With UBS Credit and Prepaid Cards, you can flexibly increase your limit. Simply via “Payment to card” in UBS E-Banking or Mobile Banking. You also collect KeyClub points with every purchase.
Note: You can send a maximum of CHF 3,000 per payment to a private individual.
- With a UBS account or a UBS Credit or Prepaid Card as a payment method: CHF 4,000 per calendar month
- With a third-party credit or prepaid card as payment method: CHF 1,000 per calendar month or CHF 5,000 per year.
If you register as a merchant with TWINT, the sky’s the limit on how much you can earn, because there's no limit on how much you can receive.
As a merchant, you can also bill directly via QR code with or without a terminal.
