What are reserved amounts and what can I do about them?

Reserved amounts are provisional charges that are still being processed. These amounts are shown in red with a clock symbol in your E-Banking.

If you have been charged twice for the same purchase, you can only dispute the amount once it has been definitively charged to your account. Click here to find out how to dispute an amount that has been charged twice.

Reserved amounts for card transactions

Reserved amounts for card transactions may be higher than the amount actually charged. At gas stations and for hotel reservations or car rentals – for example in connection with a deposit or security deposit – these amounts are reserved for seven days. Only the actual outstanding billing amount is definitively charged.

Reserved amounts when buying flight tickets

When buying flight tickets, it may look like the airline has charged the amount twice. Actually, the second charge is just a reserved amount to check the creditworthiness of customers.

UBS does not have any influence over how such charges are processed or how long the amount actually remains reserved (see also the "Terms and conditions for the use of UBS Debit Cards" section 10). This may be as long as 30 days. Please contact the airline directly if you have any questions.
