What sustainability means to us

We all know finance has a powerful influence on the world. At UBS, we reimagine the power of people and capital, to create a better world for everyone: a fairer society, a more prosperous economy and a healthier environment. That’s why we partner with our clients to help them mobilize their capital towards a more sustainable world. And it is why we have made sustainability a significant part of our culture.

Our ambition

We want to be the financial provider of choice for clients who wish to mobilize capital towards the achievement of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the orderly transition to a low-carbon economy.

So we’re focusing on three key areas to drive that transition and these are some of the ways that we’ll get there.

  • Achieving the orderly transition to a low-carbon economy is highly ambitious. Nonetheless, we are committed to doing our part, which is why the shift to a lower-carbon future is a priority for UBS and a key focus of our sustainability strategy.

  • Addressing societal challenges through client and corporate philanthropy as well as employee engagement
  • 2025
  • Raise USD 1 billion in donations and reach 25 million beneficiaries through client philanthropy.

Employee volunteering

UBS collaborates with Swiss companies to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere.

As part of UBS’s ambition to achieve net zero energy emissions from its own operations by 2025, the firm is collaborating with the two Swiss companies Climeworks and neustark, which are both pioneering new carbon removal technologies. Over the next 13 years, the aim is to remove 39,500 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere.
