In excess of 1,700 delegates to attend the fourteenth UBS Greater China Conference (GCC) in Shanghai

Close to 1,000 domestic and international investors are included among the 1,700 delegates to have registered to attend the five-day conference in Shanghai which, this year, has the theme of “New reforms, new era, new opportunities”. Timothy GEITHNER, 75th US Secretary of The Treasury, and LI Yang, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, are keynote speakers at the conference which takes place between 13 and 17 January 2014. UBS Group CEO, Sergio ERMOTTI, will deliver the opening address with international NBA star and the founder of The Yao Ming Foundation, Yao Ming, a special guest at the event.

“The theme this year focuses on the delicate balance China must make between policy reform and economic growth. The conference is particularly timely given its proximity to the recent 3rd plenum of the Party Congress,” noted Chi Won YOON, CEO of UBS for Asia Pacific.

The GCC features themed tracks, panel discussions and presentations delivered by leading economists and academics, award-winning UBS research analysts, policy makers, and senior executives of leading corporations. Topics this year encompass global issues, such as economic headwinds and uncertainty and asset allocation in a volatile monetary world, to more China-focused themes including: financial sector reform; the Shanghai Free Trade Zone; the challenges and opportunities for multinational companies operating in China; prospects for the country's capital markets; as well as 'conventional' and 'unconventional' sectors.

The GCC is UBS's flagship conference globally and has established itself as the leading China forum with an audience comprising leading international investors as well as the top institutional fund managers based in China. This year, in excess of 160 companies will gain access to the crème de la crème of China-focused institutional investors. Delegates will also have the opportunity to take part in a range of company, property, and sector tours.
