    When Festichoc arrives, the air in Versoix is filled with the scent of chocolate. Each year, over 25,000 visitors flock to the town near Geneva to discover the finest chocolate creations, to sample high-quality chocolate and to watch impressive live sculpture contests. Ever since the event was created in 2005, more than 30 chocolatiers from all over Switzerland have made the annual festival a special treat for the whole family.     The “Humani’Trail” in Les Diablerets connects the Alps with the Himalayas and inspires over 1,300 runners from around 30 countries. Five trails lead through the unique nature of the Vaud Alps and make the region a popular excursion destination.     Lucerne Festival is one of the leading international festivals in the area of classical music.     Regional roots but an international focus: the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra is Switzerland’s oldest symphony orchestra. It represents Lucerne as a city of music all over the world. The symphony orchestra consists of over 80 musicians from almost 20 nations. As the resident orchestra at the KKL Luzern, it is the orchestra with the busiest annual season and has been organizing the annual piano festival “Le Piano Symphonique” since 2022.

    Running, jumping, throwing – the largest youth sport project in Switzerland includes all natural forms of exercise and has more than 170,000 participants per year. During the local preliminaries and cantonal finals, the best performers qualify for the grand Finalissima at the legendary Letzigrund stadium where they can feel like great track and field stars for an entire day.   • White Turf

    International horse races normally take place on the first three weekends of February with the impressive Upper Engadin mountains in the background. The spectacular skikjoring races are a spectator magnet where daring riders on skis are pulled over the icy St. Moritz Lake by thoroughbred horses. The overall winner of the UBS skikjoring trophy is determined on the third and last Sunday that races are held, and the winner is given an award as the “Queen” or “King of the Engadins.”

    The ZFF is the second-largest film festival in German-speaking countries with around 130,000 festival-goers per year and thousands of movie and media creators from around the world. The ZFF presents the most anticipated movies of the year and interesting discoveries during the 11 days of the festival in the fall.
