Aidan Dunstan, Regional Head North East and Yorkshire, Leeds & Newcastle Offices

Having graduated in Law from Newcastle University Aidan started his career at Brewin Dolphin and has subsequently worked for a number of different companies in stockbroking and wealth management. He was part of the team that set up offices for Merrill Lynch and Laing & Cruickshank in the North East and joined UBS in 2004. He divides his time between working with private clients on both a discretionary and advisory basis covering personal portfolios, ISAs, pensions and offshore bonds whilst also managing the Newcastle and Leeds offices. Outside of the office he enjoys tennis, football and golf and tries to the take team ethic of sport into the office. Aidan is a Chartered Member of the CISI.

Client Advisors

Client Advisors are responsible for looking after your wealth management needs, from helping to decide your overall wealth strategy through to advising on issues such as investment products and pension planning. As well as being your main contact at UBS Wealth Management, he or she will also be your gateway to the wider expertise of UBS, should you need specialist advice from our mortgage solutions team or help with selling your business, for instance.

Karen Vardy

Karen joined UBS in 2008 joining from Coutts & Co. She has 30 years experience in Banking and Finance, the last 27 years of these spent in Yorkshire. Karen is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and has a BSc (Hons) in financial Services and holds the CISI Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice and Management.

Neil King

Neil has a banking and finance career spanning over 30 years, joining UBS in 2006. Previously a Senior Banker with Coutts & Co. Neil is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and holds to CISI Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice and Management.

Paul Allen

Paul joined UBS in 2014 having previously worked for Coutts & Co for 7 years in London, Manchester and most recently Jersey where he specialised in the sports and entertainment and UK resident non domiciled sectors. Prior to a career in private finance Paul worked in industry as a commercial analyst for BAE Systems. Paul has an MBA from the University of Durham, is a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments. He holds the CISI Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice and Management.

Richard Wood

Richard joined UBS in 2018 from Barclays Wealth, having started his career as a fund manager at Investec where he was responsible for managing investment portfolios for high net worth individuals, charities and trusts. Richard moved to Barclays Wealth in 2007 as a portfolio manager then moved into a private banking role in 2010 where he focused on advising high net worth clients in the region. Richard read Chemistry & Mathematics at Durham University and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Claire Kerr

Claire joined UBS in 2006 as a client advisor from the Energy Industry. Claire spent five years working for UBS in London advising private clients. In addition to working with clients resident and domiciled in the UK Claire is accredited to advise resident non domiciled clients. Claire has a masters degree in Economics and Management from Oxford University and holds the CISI Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice and Management.

Lisa Helliwell

Lisa joined UBS in 2011 originally as a Client Advisor Assistant and is now a Client Advisor. She has over 14 years experience in Banking, Finance and Wealth Management, with various appointments in Retail and Corporate Banking, along with Property Finance. Lisa is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and holds the CISI Investment Advice Diploma.

Stephen Wilson

Stephen joined UBS in 2017 having previously worked for Coutts & Co for 9 years in Leeds and most recently Sheffield advising clients across the Yorkshire and Derbyshire regions. Prior to joining Coutts & Co, Stephen attained a first class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University. Stephen is a Chartered Wealth Manager and holds the CISI Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice and Management.

Financial Planner

Financial Planners work as specialists alongside your UBS client advisor, providing bespoke financial planning advice. A team of Paraplanners and Administrators support our Financial Planners to efficiently execute this advice and, provide you with excellent client service, as well as access to other UBS resources. These resources can range from investment management to estate planning and corporate finance advice, in addition to specific wealth management products and services.

Christopher Hogarth

Chris specialises in advising individuals and their families on personal financial planning, including retirement and estate planning. Prior to joining UBS, Chris worked for a Chartered accountants as an Independent Financial Adviser and has a wide breadth of knowledge having provided financial planning advice in various capacities across the profession over the past 13 years. Chris is a Chartered member of the Personal Finance Society and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Regional Strategic Partners – Business Development

Carl Darnill

Carl has over 25 years financial services experience. He began his career in mainstream banking before moving into financial planning and spent 8 years as an IFA working at a senior level within the financial planning subsidiaries of big 4 banks, both offshore in the Far East, before moving back onshore. Carl subsequently joined Coutts & Co specialising in working with UK resident, non-domiciled clients in Yorkshire and the North East. In addition to his banking and investment qualification Carl is a qualified trust and estate practitioner (TEP) and prior to joining UBS worked for a global trust business living in Zurich, Switzerland and the Isle of Man. Carl is focused on maintaining and enhancing relationships with our regional strategic partners plus developing new business relationships across Yorkshire and Lancashire. He is a member of the Personal Finance Society, Chartered Insurance Institute and Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Client Advisor Assistants are an integral member of the team who will provide you with most of your day-to-day administrative support including payments, transfers and trades.

Sophie Bennett

Sophie joined UBS in 2014 as a client advisor assistant supporting the Leeds office. She has previously had 2 years of experience supporting private and business banking managers in her previous role with the Clydesdale and Yorkshire bank. Sophie graduated with a BA Hons in Business Studies from Leeds Metropolitan University.

Amy Keast

Amy joined UBS in 2016 as a Client Advisor Assistant within the Leeds office. Amy has two years previous experience working in financial services with St. James's Place Wealth Management, supporting a senior financial advisor. Amy's aim is to work towards completing qualifications and developing her financial career with UBS.

Judith Richards

Jude joins UBS after 7 years with Coutts & Co where she worked as both a Wealth Manager Assistant in the Leeds Office and Private Banking Assistant in the Manchester Office .Prior to that Jude was at Lloyds Private Banking in Leeds.

In her spare time , Jude enjoys sports , going to the theatre and weekends away.
