Karan Sejpal, Regional Head, North
Karan joined UBS in 2014 from Barclays Wealth and Investment where he was a key driver of growth for the Manchester office primarily focusing on UHNW clients in the region. Prior to Barclays he helped set up and grow Credit Suisse’s northern office and client base. Karan has completed an MBA from Manchester Business School and also gained experience with Citi Group in in both India and England.
Karan splits his time leading the team in the North West and also looking after a few key client relationships.

The Manchester team
Client Advisors are responsible for looking after your wealth management needs, from helping to decide your overall wealth strategy through to advising on issues such as investment products and pension planning. As well as being your main contact at UBS Wealth Management, he or she will also be your gateway to the wider expertise of UBS, should you need specialist advice from our mortgage solutions team or help with selling your business, for instance.
Simon has been advising wealthy individuals and families in the North West for over 20 years having worked for Lloyds Bank in the city from 1988 and subsequently moving to UBS in May 2013. Simon is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and is a Chartered Wealth Manager, holding the Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice and Management. Simon is married and has one son.
Mark has been advising wealthy individuals and corporate organisations in the UK for more than 20 years. Mark specialises in investment management and lending. Having worked previously with Barclays Wealth Mark joined UBS in February 2015. Mark is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and holds the Private Client Investment Advice and Management Diploma.
Rick joined UBS in March 2013 and has over 20 years experience in the financial services industry providing advice to individuals, trusts and pension funds in the management of their investments. He previously worked at Brown Shipley and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
Jane joined UBS in November 2016 from Mills & Reeve LLP, where she was an Associate Solicitor in the Family team advising on complex family law matters for high net worth individuals. As well as being a qualified solicitor, Jane holds an LLB from The College of Law in Manchester and a Geography degree from Exeter University. Jane is the first person in the UK to be accepted onto the UBS Associate Training Programme, aimed at experienced professionals with transferrable knowledge and skills, and is taking the CISI Investment Advice Diploma. Jane is a keen skier and is qualified to instruct not only skiing but also sailing, she also enjoys cycling in the Peak District.
Financial Planners work as specialists alongside your UBS client advisor, providing bespoke financial planning advice. A team of Paraplanners and Administrators support our Financial Planners to efficiently execute this advice and, provide you with excellent client service, as well as access to other UBS resources. These resources can range from investment management to estate planning and corporate finance advice, in addition to specific wealth management products and services.
Chris specialises in advising individuals and their families on personal financial planning, including retirement and estate planning. Prior to joining UBS, Chris worked for a Chartered accountants as an Independent Financial Adviser and has a wide breadth of knowledge having provided financial planning advice in various capacities across the profession over the past 13 years. Chris is a Chartered member of the Personal Finance Society and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.
Client Advisor Assistants
Client Advisor Assistants are an integral member of the team who will provide you with most of your day-to-day administrative support including payments, transfers and trades.
After obtaining a degree in Economics and German at the University of London, Sara worked for ten years at Coutts in both London and Manchester. She has been with UBS since 2008 working as a client advisor’s assistant.
Amanda joins UBS after 4 years at Coutts where she worked as both Team Assistant and Private Banking Assistant. Prior to that Amanda was at RBS for a total of 7 years having worked in Lombard Asset Finance for 3 years before joining Coutts.
Regional Strategic Partners – Business Development
Carl has over 25 years financial services experience. He began his career in mainstream banking before moving into financial planning and spent 8 years as an IFA working at a senior level within the financial planning subsidiaries of big 4 banks, both offshore in the Far East, before moving back onshore. Carl subsequently joined Coutts & Co specialising in working with UK resident, non-domiciled clients in Yorkshire and the North East. In addition to his banking and investment qualification Carl is a qualified trust and estate practitioner (TEP) and prior to joining UBS worked for a global trust business living in Zurich, Switzerland and the Isle of Man. Carl is focused on maintaining and enhancing relationships with our regional strategic partners plus developing new business relationships across Yorkshire and Lancashire. He is a member of the Personal Finance Society, Chartered Insurance Institute and Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
