Aidan Dunstan, Regional Head North East, Newcastle Office
Having graduated in Law from Newcastle University Aidan started his career at Brewin Dolphin and has subsequently worked for a number of different companies in stockbroking and wealth management. He was part of the team that set up offices for Merrill Lynch and Laing & Cruickshank in the North East and joined UBS in 2004. He divides his time between working with private clients on both a discretionary and advisory basis covering personal portfolios, ISAs, pensions and offshore bonds whilst also managing the Newcastle office. Outside of the office he enjoys tennis, football and golf and tries to the take team ethic of sport into the office. Aidan is a Chartered Member of the CISI.
The Newcastle team
Client Advisors are responsible for looking after your wealth management needs, from helping to decide your overall wealth strategy through to advising on issues such as investment products and pension planning. As well as being your main contact at UBS Wealth Management, he or she will also be your gateway to the wider expertise of UBS, should you need specialist advice from our mortgage solutions team or help with selling your business, for instance.
Andrew graduated from Northumbria University before joining the stockbroking firm of Gerrard Vivian Gray in London. He has 25 years' industry experience having led investment management teams under the Old Mutual then Barclays Wealth ownership of Gerrard Investment Management. He leapt at the opportunity to return to the North of England in 2008 and joined the team at UBS in 2013. Andrew is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI with responsibility for a variety of personal, pension, trust and charity clients. Married with three sons and a daughter, he enjoys the sporting activities of his children. When time permits he loves fishing, swimming and travel on two wheels.
David joined the team at UBS in December 2013 from HSBC, where he spent the previous 11 years. Prior to that he was with Scottish Life on the Isle of Man having moved to the UK from New Zealand. David went to Auckland University of Technology to complete his Business Studies degree and is also a qualified Chartered Wealth Manager. David is married and has 3 children and when time allows enjoys Golf, Shooting, Fishing, Mountain Biking and of course Rugby.
Claire joined UBS in 2006 as a client advisor from the Energy Industry. Claire spent five years working for UBS in London advising private clients before returning to work in the North of England in 2011. In addition to working with clients resident and domiciled in the UK Claire is accredited to advise resident non domiciled clients. Claire has a Masters degree in Economics and Management from Oxford University and is a Chartered Member of the CISI. Claire loves sport and plays as much as possible in her spare time as well as having two Old English Sheepdogs.
Financial Planners work as specialists alongside your UBS client advisor, providing bespoke financial planning advice. A team of Paraplanners and Administrators support our Financial Planners to efficiently execute this advice and, provide you with excellent client service, as well as access to other UBS resources. These resources can range from investment management to estate planning and corporate finance advice, in addition to specific wealth management products and services.
Jeff joined UBS in 2012 and specialises in advising individuals and their families on personal financial planning, including retirement and estate planning. He holds a Bachelor of Finance degree and a Masters in Accountancy. Jeff was awarded Chartered Financial Planner status in 2007 and is a Certified Financial Planner. He also holds a Certificate with the Society of Trustees and Estate Practitioners. Jeff works alongside the client advisors to help ensure that our clients' wider objectives are met. Jeff is married with one child and enjoys shooting and riding motorcycles in his spare time.
Client Advisor Assistants
Client Advisor Assistants are an integral member of the team who will provide you with most of your day-to-day administrative support including payments, transfers and trades.
Stacey has been in the financial services industry since graduating in 2000 from Hertfordshire University with a BSc Hons in Engineering Management. Stacey began her career with an IFA in London as an Investment Assistant before becoming their Deputy Investment Administration Manager. Stacey then joined UBS in London into a similar role in 2003 before returning to the North East in 2007 as a Client Advisor Assistant. Stacey enjoys a multitude of outdoor activities with her Fiancé, including hiking, mountain biking and the occasional spot of fishing.
Nicky joined UBS in 2004 following a drastic change from her brief career in Graphic Design. Nicky supports the Directors in all of the administrative aspects of account management for private clients, charities and pension funds as a Client Advisor Assistant. She is currently happily living with her boyfriend of 12 years and has a passion for cooking, travelling, reading and playing computer games (not all at the same time).
Alison graduated with a BA (Hons) in English & Women's Cultures from Northumbria University and joined UBS in 2007 following several years as a Personal Assistant in the voluntary sector. She now works as a Client Advisor Assistant, supporting the directors in administrative aspects of account management for private clients. Alison lives with her husband and enjoys reading, creative writing, going to the theatre and weekends away.
Judy has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years, having worked in Edinburgh and London prior to returning to the North East in 1997. Judy joined the Newcastle office of Laing & Cruickshank in 2002, from Merrill Lynch and has been at UBS Wealth Management since it bought Laing & Cruickshank in 2004. She graduated with a BA (Hons) Business Studies degree from Northumbria University. Judy currently supports all directors with business development opportunities in the region, including organising marketing events. She is married with 2 children and is a keen tennis player, horse rider and skier.
Having graduated from Leeds University, Katherine began her career working for Merrill Lynch within Investment Banking before relocating to the North East in 2002 where she worked for an Independent Financial Adviser and latterly (following a PGCE at Durham University) as a Primary School Teacher. Katherine joined UBS in 2014 and not only provides support to the Newcastle Team but also to Jonathan Brown, Head of Regions UK. Katherine is married with two sons and, when not supporting her boys with their various activities, she enjoys running, reading and entertaining family and friends.
