The Birmingham team
Client Advisors are responsible for looking after your wealth management needs, from helping to decide your overall wealth strategy through to advising on issues such as investment products and pension planning. As well as being your main contact at UBS Wealth Management, he or she will also be your gateway to the wider expertise of UBS, should you need specialist advice from our mortgage solutions team or help with selling your business, for instance.
Phillip joined in September 2008 as Head of the Midlands Region for UBS Wealth Management. Prior to that Phillip was Head of the Wealth Advisory team at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he worked for 12 years. Phillip holds a number of professional qualifications including the Financial Planning Certificate, Investment Management Certificate and the Private Client Investment Advice and Management qualification.
Outside of work, Phillip is a keen runner (he's run several marathons) and travelling all over the world.

Neil joined UBS in 2008 as a client advisor; previously he had spent twenty years with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Neil has over 30 years of experience in advising private investors, trusts, charities and corporate investors. He has a BA (Hons) in History from Hull University, is a Chartered Accountant and holds the Investment Management Certificate and the Private Client Investment Advice and Management qualification.
Neil enjoys watching cricket, reading and travel.
Johnny joined UBS in 2012 as a Client Advisor. He was educated at Belvedere College and is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin with a BA (Hons) in Management Science. He began his career with Lloyds Bank plc in 1988 and then moved into Lloyds Private Banking as an Office Manager. Following this role, he spent 15 years with Allied Irish Bank (GB) Private Banking in both Mayfair and the Midlands, moving there in 2008. He holds professional qualifications including the Financial Planning Certificate, Investment Advice Certificate and the Private Client Investment Advice and Management Certificate.
He is married with 2 children, a keen cricketer, a rugby coach and a racehorse owner. In his spare time he is the captain of a local shoot and a non-executive director of a Birmingham Education Academy Trust.
Kal joined UBS in 2008, following his previous role in the Wealth Advisory team at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Kal has over 8 years of experience in the wealth management sector and holds the Private Client Investment Advice and Management qualification. Kal holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the Nottingham Trent University and is also a qualified Chartered Accountant with the ICAEW.
Outside of work, Kal is a sports fanatic who enjoys playing and watching a variety of sports, in particular cricket, football, boxing and tennis. Kal also enjoys cooking having taken this up very recently. Kal has a keen interest in philanthropy and has recently set up his own charity undertaking special projects that help those in poverty around the world.
Andy joined UBS in 2017 having previously worked for Coutts for 9 years as a Director Wealth Manager advising high net worth entrepreneurial clients cross East and West Midlands.
Prior to Coutts Andy has enjoyed various roles including meteorological and oceanographic observer in Royal Navy, gallery manager at fine art dealer in the Cotswolds and investment planning manager at NatWest. He has also run a family office for a UHNW family.
Andy is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (Chartered FSCI) and holds a number of professional qualifications including the Financial Planning Certificate and Private Client Investment Advice and Management.
Outside of work he enjoys all sports, playing golf and travel.
Nick joined UBS in 2018, following his previous role with Florida based investment consulting firm, AndCo where he worked with some of Florida's largest institutional pension funds, charities and endowments. Nick holds a BA in Economics from Rollins College in Orlando, Florida as well as the Investment Advice Diploma with the CISI.
Outside of work, Nick has a strong passion for sport. Tennis has always played a big role in his life, attending IMG's Nick Bollettieri tennis academy as well as competing on Rollins College varsity team in Orlando. However, more recently Nick has been spending more time on the golf course, than on the tennis court!
Mabs joined UBS in 2018 and has over 15 years of experience working with CEO's and Senior Board members implementing and driving various growth strategies. Having studied Industrial Product Design & Engineering at Coventry University, Mabs started his career in banking with HSBC and has spent the last 8 years working in the accountancy sector both for a Top 10 and Top 50+50 firm.
Outside of work, Mabs is family orientated and spends most of his time with his young family. He loves to travel and enjoys the odd eating out. He is also involved in a voluntary organisation that offers football coaching to young people aged between 6-18.
Financial Planners work as specialists alongside your UBS client advisor, providing bespoke financial planning advice. A team of Paraplanners and Administrators support our Financial Planners to efficiently execute this advice and, provide you with excellent client service, as well as access to other UBS resources. These resources can range from investment management to estate planning and corporate finance advice, in addition to specific wealth management products and services.
Julian joined UBS in 2012 and specialises in advising individuals and their families on personal financial planning, retirement and estate planning as well as tax-efficient investing and life assurance needs. He has worked in the UK financial services industry for over 30 years and has previously advised clients at financial institutions such as Coutts & Co, Credit Suisse and at Close Brothers Asset Management. Julian was one of the first advisers in the industry to be awarded Chartered Financial Planner status in 2005 and holds Fellowships with the Personal Finance Society, the Pensions Management Institute and the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Client Advisor Assistants
Client Advisor Assistants are an integral member of the team who will provide you with most of your day-to-day administrative support including payments, transfers and trades.
Toni began her career as an apprentice at Brown Shipley three years ago before progressing to a Client Administrator, she joined UBS as a Client Advisor Assistant in mid-2017 to support the Birmingham office. In her spare time, Toni is a bit of a “foodie”. She also enjoys travelling as well as spending time with friends and family.
Haroon joined UBS in May 2017 having previously spent 5 years in financial services working for Wesleyan Assurance Society. Previous to this, Haroon spent 4 years selling home emergency insurance at Homeserve.
In his spare time, Haroon enjoys partaking in various sports and loves to spend time with his wife, son and daughter.
Alexander joined UBS in mid-2015 as a Client Advisor Assistant, following similar roles with Deutsche Bank, EFG Harris Allday and Brown Shipley. Alexander has over 9 years’ experience in the Wealth Management industry.
In his spare time, Alexander is a keen footballer and enjoys spending time with his young daughter and travelling.
Jenny originally joined UBS in October 2007 and worked within various teams in Operations in our London office. After relocating to Birmingham in 2016 and working as a Senior Administrator for Chase de Vere, Jenny re-joined UBS in December 2017 working in the Birmingham office. In her spare time Jenny enjoys socialising with friends and spending time with her family. She also enjoys travelling.
Sue joined UBS in October 2008 as Team Assistant. Prior to that she worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers for 17 years starting off in Pensions and then working for the Wealth Advisory team.
Outside of work Sue has a passion for cooking, pottering around the garden and has recently joined the gym.
