Investment process

The UBS US 130/30 Equity Fund utilises the same UBS investment process and strong US research capability that has been successfully identifying under and overpriced securities for over 25 years. The Fund will be managed by the same team that manages the UBS US Equity Fund – a group whose members have an average of 13 years of investment experience and have been with UBS for an average of over seven years. (Source: UBS Asset Management as at 30 September 2008). The managers will create a portfolio of 80–120 positions of which 50–70 are long stocks, averaging 130% and 30–50 are short stocks, averaging 30%. The Fund's net market exposure will therefore generally be around 100%. The actual range of the portfolio will be between 110% and 140% in long positions and the corresponding short positions will range between 10% and 40%. Beta will range from 0.9 to 1.1, as we seek to add value predominantly through stock and industry selection.
