“We take our fiduciary standards very seriously. We have a duty of care. And we have a duty of loyalty. The interests of our clients always come before our own.”

— Paul D'Aiutolo

Acting as your Retirement Plan Consultant, our goal is to simplify the complexity of your defined contribution plan while helping you serve the best interests of your participants and their beneficiaries. We’ll continuously collaborate with you in a fully documented and measurable process designed to keep your plan responsible and effective.

Managing plan complexity, driving plan effectiveness

The retirement industry is evolving as people live longer and employees have greater responsibility for retirement savings. With increasing governance demands placed on fiduciaries, businesses need advice from professionals who can help them navigate the unique challenges they face.

Fiduciary governance. We fully embrace our role as your plan’s contractual “ERISA Fiduciary” as we help you make important plan-related decisions. Plan Sponsors can engage our team as either a 3(21) or a 3(38) contractual fiduciary. As part of our fiduciary obligations, we provide ongoing investment advice, support for reviewing and evaluating plan expenses and fees, as well as help you manage your fiduciary documentation. In addition, we offer a comprehensive process to monitor, track and replace investments that is aligned with your Investment Policy Statement (IPS).

Objective advice. We assist retirement plan committees with managing their plans by making informed recommendations. Recommendations include ways to enhance plan design, review of employer funding budgets, regulatory compliance, plan benchmarking documentation and evaluation of current recordkeeper.

Liaison services. As your plan consultant, our team always acts to ensure communication flows continuously amongst the recordkeepers, third-party administrator, ERISA attorney and you as the client.

Plan health. We’ll help assess provider services and plan effectiveness as well as introduce new strategies to enhance overall plan health. We work closely with you to understand your goals, which helps us create an actionable plan design that is effective in helping participants achieve financial security throughout their working years and retirement.

Retirement readiness. Participant education is a key component of your plan. The customized education strategy we develop for you is strengthened by our financial expertise and broad financial planning capabilities. Our goal is to have all of your employees make confident decisions about their retirement.

UBS: A trusted resource

As UBS Financial Advisors, we are part of a firm that is well-positioned to address the complexities of retirement plan sponsorship, while helping you serve the needs of your participants. UBS manages over 2,000 retirement plans and over $70 billion in retirement plan consulting assets. Our retirement experience, combined with the strength and deep resources of UBS, will help you manage your plan in the best interests of your employees.

Employee education

No matter where employees are in their careers, we are committed to integrating robust education programs to help your plan participants pursue their retirement goals.

We add value to your employees’ benefits with useful financial literacy education. We understand that each company and its employees we work with are unique, which is why we pride ourselves in delivering an education curriculum that is geared toward each specific company’s culture and conveying it in a manner that is easily understood. Our goal is to become a trusted resource for participants during all stages of their employment.

Financial literacy. Many employees fail to take advantage of their company’s defined contribution plan or don’t know how much they need to save annually to meet future retirement needs. We provide ongoing education via group seminars, webinars and one-on-one communications.  In addition, we supplement these educational efforts with a financial wellness website, quarterly newsletters and action-oriented worksheets.

Managing priorities. What comes first—saving for a child’s college education? Saving in your Health Savings Account or saving for your retirement? What about paying off student loans? We can help provide education on crucial issues surrounding the challenges that participants face as their lives become more complex.

Nearing retirement. When they’re over the age of 55, we educate plan participants on how to transition what they have worked so hard to save into a comfortable and secure retirement. This means understanding their concerns, needs and wants, and providing guidance on Social Security, healthcare, investment allocation and other important subjects.

The UBS Financial Wellness Center. We’ve created this dedicated 24/7 online portal to help retirement plan participants make smart financial decisions for their future.

“We currently service 401(k) plans with more than 35,000 participants in total, and we consider all of those participants family, to be treated with the same value and respect.”

— Marc Brondon
