Group Internal Audit (GIA)

GIA assesses UBS's governance, risk management and control environment in all divisions globally. We are a supervisory function, independent of business management and risk control. We provide senior management with an objective view of how the firm's risks are being managed and we report directly to the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee. Working at GIA gives you insight into various businesses, locations, functions and products, exposure to management and the opportunity to develop your expertise and your professional network.

Auditors take part in audits across EMEA, in close collaboration with GIA teams in other locations. In audits, we assess how the businesses being audited are managing their risks, how well the business has designed its controls, whether they are working effectively and what the impact of control deficiencies are. If we find areas where management needs to take action, we document audit issues, root causes and risks and communicate them clearly and convincingly as agents of change within the firm. Audit work may require up to 60% travel depending on the area of specialization.

The Issue Assurance team supports the firm's ongoing efforts to strengthen the control environment by reviewing the actions that the business has taken to remediate issues and assessing whether these have effectively and sustainably addressed the relevant risks.

  • Outstanding professionals with a university degree, preferably with a business or technical background, and at least 2-3 years working experience in a relevant field (e.g. wealth management / retail business, investment banking, asset management, technology / IT, risk / control functions).
  • Inquisitive minds with very strong analytical skills, a good understanding of financial markets, operational or technological aspects, as well as process flows within and between banks and their counterparts, and with the ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Independent staff with strong time management skills, who are able to prioritize and balance their own workload and work under minimal supervision.
  • Flexible individuals, able to learn quickly, and willing to handle various and changing topics and to keep up with financial industry or technological developments.
  • Committed team players, collaborating effectively within and across teams and willing to travel to other UBS locations in Europe for audit assignments.
  • Strong communicators with an excellent verbal and written command of English, as well as the ability to present complex facts in a succinct manner and to communicate with stakeholders at various levels (knowledge of an additional European language (French/German/Italian/Spanish) is an advantage).


In operations we take care of a range of activities which directly support the business decision-making process. Primarily we provide support to dealmakers to enable them to make prudent and confident decisions; they rely on our professional handling of systems, data, securities and corporate events to support their daily activities. Further, we reconcile accounts every day and then send the information back to the business so they can see how they are performing. We support account managers with reports which they use with their clients as a customer management tool. We also provide post-trade account administration and collateral management. All of these activities mean we have a crucial role to play in many of the bank’s business activities.

Our Know Your Customer (KYC) teams in Poland are responsible for reviewing client data in UBS systems and making sure that we know who our customers are in order to prevent money laundering. Client reviews are used as proof of our prevention measures to our regulators. Our analysts in KYC need to build knowledge about financial institutions and their structures in order, for instance, to understand who is the real owner of a company.

We are growing dynamically and are looking for enthusiastic people, the kind who know the difference between bonds, equities and swaps, who enjoy juggling data in MS Excel, Access and Visual Basic, and like to create macros and pivot tables.

Our daily working language is English; therefore, proficiency in this language is essential. Since we also deliver our services to other UBS locations (e.g. Switzerland) some of the roles require proficiency in German.

Within KYC we are looking for either graduates with an interest in financial institutions and financial markets, or people with anti-money laundering experience. All of our candidates need to have good English skills. Other languages are very welcome, above all German or French.


In the Group Treasury team we are responsible for analyzing and reporting UBS's balance sheet, liquidity position, risk reports as well as monitoring internal liquidity limits and funding gaps. The compensation area comprised of teams based in Krakow, Zurich and Weehawken is a global function within Financial Accounting and Controlling and acts as a center of competence primarily for deferred and variable employee compensation. We are responsible for ensuring that the financial accounting and reporting is accurate and that related controls and business processes are appropriately set up. We work on process improvement across various areas related to financial accounting and reporting. In our CFO teams in Poland, Financial Analysts work as Business Partners in a 'virtual one-team' model together with their team colleagues in Switzerland. Main tasks include ad hoc financial advisory and analyses for the business as well as partial or full responsibility for core finance processes such as planning, forecasting, preparing presentations for senior management (up to Executive Board members), analyzing and commenting on monthly and quarterly results. In our Regional Controlling team, we manage all operational and financial accounting production and reporting activity across locations, all journal postings and production of the trial balance

In the Valuation Methodologies (VM) team we cover all the technical aspects of valuations globally and across all asset classes. The VM main responsibilities include developing, improving and prototyping independent price testing (IPV) methodologies; developing, reviewing and approving model fair value adjustments and liquidity adjustments.

For the majority of the roles on offer you need to have a financial and banking background as well as very good knowledge of Excel. Some roles may require Business Objects or SAP knowledge.

In most cases, a successful candidate would be a graduate in finance, financial markets or economics with strong analytical skills. Apart from theoretical knowledge, in our recruitment process we also focus on your skills, experience and/or the area of expertise in which you would like to grow.

Since you will cooperate with teams located around the world on a daily basis, knowledge of English, good communication and teamwork skills are important to us.

Legal, Compliance
and Risk

In the risk area, we are working on data management, data integrity, management /hedge funds and market risk. Our specialists deal with different tasks, including: establishing and amending credit limits in risk control systems, maintaining credit limits, and investigating limit violations. The market risk team plays a critical role in supporting the risk measurement framework.

The operational risk control team provides reporting services and technical support for this topic across all business divisions.

In Legal team, we provide business and legal support services to the various legal documentation units within the Investment Bank. The area comprises several streams which cover a broad scope of responsibilities including but not limited to anti money laundering, product and foreign exchange documentation and data management.

In the risk control area a successful candidate would be a graduate in finance, financial markets or economics, with very strong analytical skills. In our recruitment process we look for theoretical knowledge gained at university, but we also focus on your skills, experience and/or the area of expertise in which you would like to grow.

For operational risk roles, we focus mainly on your experience, knowledge and applications skills. Most roles require at least basic financial and banking knowledge, but also a very good knowledge of MS Office applications, especially MS Excel. In MS Excel we work on large data sets, so proficiency in creating pivot tables and using text, logic lookup and reference functions is crucial.

Due to the fact that we cooperate with teams from all over the world, excellent written and spoken business English as well as very good communication and teamwork skills are required. Also, an inquisitive and analytical mind, as well as good eye for detail are very important to us. German or French language skills would also be an asset.

For the majority of the roles within the legal area you need to have either a financial, legal, banking or linguistics background, as well as very good knowledge of MS Office. In our recruitment process we focus mostly on your skills, experience and/or the area of expertise in which you would like to grow.

HR Advisory
and Operations

HR Advisory & Operations are responsible for the effective delivery of HR Operations transactions and providing advice to UBS employees. We receive queries from employees by telephone, email and intranet portal. These can be on a range of topics as diverse as holidays & absence, changes to working hours & conditions, guidance on parental leave, and training & development support.

We either resolve the query ourselves, or escalate the query to other teams with more specialist knowledge utilizing case management technology. We also educate employees on how to use the HR intranet portal to get direct answers to future queries (i.e. “self-reliance” so employees can find the answer themselves).

We also provide administrative and transactional support to both employees and other functions in UBS - for example, the HR Recruiting team, the HR Manager Advisers, and the HR Business Partners. These activities include new joiner onboarding, maintenance of employee lifecycle data, and exit management.

Candidates for all HR Advisory & Operations Team roles must have substantial previous experience of working in HR service centers, delivering advice and services to UK-based employees.

As the team members provide guidance over the telephone, fluent English is a must.

Degree in disciplines such as HR, Administration or Business are advantageous, but previous work experience, skills and knowledge are more important.

Most crucially, team members must have complete focus on excellent customer service and delivery, and be passionate about growing and developing in the HR Advisory & Operations function within UBS in Krakow.


IT department provides a wide range of technology services ranging from systems analysis, software and infrastructure engineering, quality assurance, application and infrastructure support. We provide several processes related to different IT risk functions, supporting management of IT risk across the bank.

Our IT security experts assess risks related to a wide range of IT systems and vendors and prepare recommendations that help the business to create action plans.

Within CRS (Central Risk Services) we are looking for candidates with skills in the following disciplines:

We are looking for candidates for technology engineering and services to join our organization in Krakow and Wroclaw. Strong execution and delivery track record, preferably in the banking and finance sectors, is required. Currently we are setting up new technology teams across many IT functions and projects and we are looking for exceptional candidates across the following disciplines; Business Analysts, Software Engineers, Support Analysts, Systems Administrators, Support Engineers, Quality and Test Engineers, IT Risk Control Specialists and Project Managers.


UBS Investment Bank is divided into two divisions that provide suite of industry-leading services: Investor Client Services and Corporate Client Services. In UBS in Krakow we support mainly the Research department which is part of the Investor Client Services.
In Research we work closely with our colleagues from London, New York and other UBS offices to build high quality research reports on listed companies. We collect information about the companies, we analyze their financial statements, forecast their earnings and we use various methods to perform valuation of a company.
Within our department you will also find positions responsible for MI reporting. In these roles we provide accurate information and analysis to the Research senior management.
What is unique in our department is that we offer an exposure to the front office environment of the leading investment bank.

For the majority of roles we expect you to have a degree in finance, banking, economics or similar discipline from a recognized university. You should have outstanding analytical skills and at least good excel skills.

In addition to the above, for some roles you need to demonstrate working knowledge of corporate finance/accounting or statistics or/and VBA.

We cooperate with colleagues located around the world on a daily basis; therefore knowledge of English is a must.

Process Excellence
and PMO

Within the Process Excellence and Project Management Office (PMO), we support UBS’s change management activities. This includes the work of transition managers who specialize in planning and executing transitions and who help teams in other locations assess options for change.
Another area of expertise within PMO is a quality function that supports Six Sigma and Process Excellence (PEX) projects and helps achieve quality targets set by the organization. Furthermore, our quality team identifies areas of improvement, points out solutions, and ensures correct prioritization.
