Poland Business Run is a unique opportunity to get together and to compete in a friendly environment. I am certain that the event will again attract runners from many companies in all six cities and summon them around the common goal: to promote healthy lifestyle in the spirit of fair play, for a good cause of supporting those in need within our community. None of what has been achieved so far would have been possible without the total dedication and commitment from our staff, partners, the generosity of the event sponsors and the support from the cities. The co-operation with the city officials confirms their commitment to encouraging development, growth and sustainability of businesses for the future. We look forward to seeing many people on the day not only taking part in the event as runners but also as fans and supporters. Together we can make the event once more a great success to the benefit of our community.
Michal Stepien, General Manager, UBS
The inspiration came from a faraway place - South Africa, the homeland of Tony Roberts-York, CEO of UBS in Krakow between 2010 and 2013.
In 2011 Tony, inspired by his homeland's initiative combining sport, business and charity, approached the UBS Corporate Social Responsibility team asking if it's possible to organize a similar event in Krakow. It was the beginning of what is now called 'Poland Business Run'.
While our work at UBS creates many opportunities for global interaction, we also make sure that our business activities benefit local communities on the social and environmental level, so Tony's idea seemed to match those goals perfectly!
Who would have thought that in such a short time the idea spreads to other cities to give business and local communities a chance for a successful co-operation.
Taking part in the run means supporting the Jasiek Mela’s Charity Foundation Beyond Horizons, its initiatives and beneficiaries.
The main aim is to promote healthy lifestyle in the spirit of fair play and friendly competitiveness for a good cause, to support those in need in our community. This initiative is a true and unique opportunity to get together, integrate and make a difference on an even larger scale than last years.
None of what has been achieved so far would have been possible had it not been for the total dedication and commitment from our staff, partners, the generosity of the event sponsors and the support from the cities officials. The co-operation with them confirms their commitment to encourage development, growth and sustainability of the business for the future.
Every year UBS sponsors the events in various cities and our employees take part in Poland Business Run (PBR) as:
We believe that no matter which role we choose – we help.
This year we will be present as a sponsor in two cities: Krakow and Wroclaw, join the event on September 6, 2015 and check how we #runthebank!
